Just wondering if we have any binocular experts among us?

I'm looking to buy a decent pair, not too big though. I need them to be small & light enough to pop in a backpack during fell hikes etc but still have a hellova lens for fantastic viewing

Trouble is, I know nothing about binoculars

Agood optical/photographic shop's your best bet. I know when I worked in one (about 30 years ago) all the staff had to have a basic level of knowledge while some of the more senior staff specialised in certain areas.
