Cheers Leccy. My BP is really labile and it's jumping all over the place, anything from /76 to /106, so they can't give me meds to bring it down because they might bring it down too far. They've been monitoring me quite closely at the hospitals for the last few weeks and I've got the checklist of pre-eclampsia symptoms etched on my brain now. If I get more than two symptoms I go straight to the hospital at Halifax. I don't feel as dodgy as I did earlier so it probably is just Braxon Hicks or something. Like I say I'll mention it at the hospital in the morning and I'm seeing the consultant about a sweep on Friday so hopefully none of it wil be going on for much longer.
Queenie!! are you listening to all the girls here?? you must call the hospital, and they will tell you to come in... can you get a taxi if needs be>?
I had my first in the UK and they called an ambulance for me, and I wasn't even dizzy!
dizzy is not good, and swelling is very not good!
Please ring Queenie..

I know what you mean and if I had a community midwife I would probably call her. But I reckon waiting around to go to hospital for a couple of hours will probably be more detrimental than just trying to chill out a bit. It looks like the pains are easing off a bit now too.
Hmmmmm (that's a disapproving 'you ARE stubborn' noise btw ) Promise you'll phone if it gets worse before hubby gets home and don't go AWOL from here or we'll all panic!
Honestly, I'm sure the BP is fine. It will probably be a bit high but nothing more than usual. I promise I wouldn't just sit here if I thought there was any serious risk to me or the baby.
If you are in early labour and it does turn into p-e an epidural usually sorts it
Best thing to keep in mind is baby is fully cooked now, so even if you do have a BP scare everything will be grand...it's not like you're only 30 weeks or summat.

I have no idea whether you are in labour..
..but if you have a history of erratic BP and you are feeling dizzy then, to be blunt, don't **** about.. get some medical attention.. if transport is a problem then speak to your Midwife or someone at the maternity unit and see if you can get an ambulance car.. failing that.. taxi..
better to be safe than sorry..

You'll be fine and this sounds a bit weird but you'll know in yourself when you MUST go to the hospital!
I felt really iffy the day before I went in Labour with baby L who is now nearly 20 months....I just knew when to get my bag and go.
I had low blood pressure which was dodgy but all was fine....good luck get hubby to inspect you when he gets home and lots of love to you!
If in doubt phone the hospital, better to be safe than sorry.

It could easily be labour. I had loads of Braxton Hicks in the run up to D Day but for some reason I just had a feeling labour had started. I went on a website , can't remember exactly what is was called something like contraction master - where you click a button to time your contractions. When they were about 7 minutes between I called the hospital.
Hope you are okay Queenie

Do you know what position your baby is in sweetie? I'm assuming that bubba is head down but do know which way they are facing, towards your back or your front?
She's gone offline now - after my specific instructions not to! Hope you're ok, Queenie and are just sitting with your feet up chilling.
ooooh she's very norty, she should have 'phoned them right away, maybe she has and they are checking her out as we speak.
When I was midwifing, you wouldn't believe some of the phone calls we had, but better safe than sorry.

oh ok, let me think. One lady rang and said she was in labour and that she was 6 cms dialated. I said how do you know you are 6 cms dialated, and she replied my husband told me, I then asked if he was medically trained, and she replied no! believe it or not, she said he measured her with a cut off bit of a ruler

My sister had 5 children and she said all of her labours were different. With one she just had what felt like chronic backache, so almost any change like you describe could be the start of labour.

sorry love you really need to phone your Drs and tell him exactly what you have said hear best wish,s to you xxxxx
To someone medically trained with you. And good luck.
Sorry, been on the phone for a bit. Swelling is back to normal and no longer feeling dizzy. The problem with my BP is that it's so erratic it's been jumping from /85 to /100 in 5-10 mins so that's what makes me feel a bit dizzy sometimes. I've been paying closer attention to what's actually happening with the tummy stuff. Feeling fine now, still got a bit of an ache but nothing like it was before. Baby is quite low down and moving around a fair bit. It's bum is pushing out onto my left hand side a lot. I think I've been having Braxton Hicks, which just feels like tightening around my middle but doesn't actually hurt, and then the period like pain is lower and possibly down to a combination of the baby's movements and the SPD. Either way, I'm pretty sure it's not labour yet. I'm back at hospital at 8am so unless anything kicks off tonight I'll just explain all of this to the midwife and doc tomorrow and see what they come up with.
Sorry to sound so vague and clueless about all this stuff. It's difficult to know who to listen to, I don't really know many people in R/L who have kids and it's not a subject I've ever had much to do with. You lot on here have been a total lifeline for me, you've given me so much advice I wouldn't have had a clue about otherwise. Thank you all for being so patient and lovely. You've genuinely made such a difference to how my whole pregnancy has gone and I don't know what I would have done without you all.

Glad everything seems to have settled down hun
I haven't read all the replies but this sounds like early stage to me.
The day before my first was born, I felt funny all day. Little cramps and whatnot. Then I woke up at 5am the next day and felt like I desperately needed a number 2. Sat there and nothing happened. Then I felt it again and I soon worked out this pain was happening every 5 minutes. He was due on 18th Aug, but turned up on the 5th. He was born near mid-day. In the event, I'd been in labour all day on the 4th, and hadn't realised it.
For the second, I didn't feel anything and went to the loo before going to bed at about 1am. Kept on peeing. It didn't stop and it dawned on my my waters had broken, right down the loo. Straight to hospital and he was born at about 5.30 am.
Never had the plug of mucus thing.
Every woman is different and it seems, that for you, something is happening. Make sure everything is ready for hospital and that hubby has all his instructions etc and that everything is set up. Ring the hospital or midwife and tell them your latest news. They'll advise you when it's time to come in.
Good luck!

Just put your feet up make the most of the time you have left.....Your time
Queenie hon.... I remember feeling exactly the same...
Its natural not to know, and lets face it, then end bit of pregnancy is just a different set of aches and pains each day (for me it was anyway).
If you don't know if "its labour starting" then just wait (unless you get any of these other symptoms that you get cos of your BP... those you need to deal with separately... call the quacks etc)...
You WILL know when its labour.. I promise you. They will become more defined... and separate.... and then you start the timing.
I remember worrying about exactly the same thing... but when it started there was no mistaking it (and I never had the show thingy or waters break).

Ok, it's starting again and now it's hurting more.

Ring the hospital or midwife or your own doc. Do it now, sweetie and get some medical advice.

Do you know if your Mum's babies were early, on time or late? Chances are, you may do the same. My babies were both a fortnight early, as were all my Mum's, and my two weighed the same as my siblings and I did.

Both of us were nearly two weeks overdue but we were also both quite small, I've been told mine is 'a good size'. The midwives said that the best thing to do if it feels like I'm starting is to stay at home as long as possible and have a bath etc. I think I may go and have one now.
oh oh oh oh
have a bath and shave ya legs all ready...sounds like she ( ) might make an appearance

A bath will certainly help you feel if its it or not.
Tends to get things moving.
Good luck Queenie..... I am thinking of you xxxx
