Mine were my dolls, I had 1 Barbie, 1 Tressie (she had hair that 'grew' from a hole in the middle of her head and you could wind it back in) and borrowed 1 of my brothers Action Men. I used to make clothes for them and played with them for hours and hours

My Teddy and I still have him
My Sindy house. I had all the furniture, about 20 dolls and loads of bits and bobs. Horses, cars, caravan etc. I still have it all now packed away in my mums attic and I refuse to part with it. I even refuse to give it to my own girls to play with....they might spoil it
I had a dolls house I loved playing with it
my care bears
Hi Moomin, Kaytee My mother threw all our toys away mind you, I have 4 children and have kept most of their stuff, the attic is bowing, but I honestly couldn't throw anything away.
I had a great Fisher Price Safari set with animals and everything. I still have the gorilla.

I bought myself a dolls house a few years ago. It takes pride of place in my bedroom and NOBODY is allowed to touch it
My teddy and I still have him. He's totally bald.
Apart from that, my doll's house. It was lovely and I really looked after it for years. Then when I got older I gave it away to a younger cousin - and she'd wrecked it within days!

I don't remember if I had a favourite toy of my own.
I always played with my younger brothers toys... they were always way more fun than my stuff..
Lego & Star Wars characters & x-wing fighter & ATAT!
Later on I remember sneaking in to play on his Sinclair Spectrum (Manic Miner & Jet Set Willy.... when I could be bothered to get them to load!)

I feel deprived now... my brother didn't have that one!
Getting the games to load was a bugger though... using the old style tape recorders!

Clackers and Two balls. I was ACE at them!
'Tressy' (another Barbie wannabe ) and 'Tiny Tears' although I was distraught mine had a blue romper suit and I wanted pink! I learned years later my late Mum had Trafford's' catalogue and you had to take what was given/dispatched out.
I enjoyed my pets too. I got a dog for my 5th birthday and he was my best buddy till he died aged 19.

Britt was my fave, I had loads but can't remember their names, shame.
Two balls!!!!! Used to love playing that. Would play for ages. You just dont get kids playing that stuff anymore. Not around here, anyway. My kids stopped "Playing out" when they got to about 11. Afraid the computer etc got the better of them!quote:Originally posted by MoFo:

I had a Silver Cross coach built toy pram, that my dollies rode around in. And a Cot with with sliding sides, loved those. And then my Uncle was a merchant seaman, and brought back from his travels, a full size doll in a wedding dress, which l could wear. He also brought back a replica american diner, with a washing machine in it . And there were in later years my beloved Tressie doll, and Cindy doll with their clothes.
I don't want to sound mean, and l will l know. Later on my mother helped out at Dr. Barnado's and all my toys were given away, if she perceived l had not played with them enough, and part of me seriously resents that.
I have as a reminder of my childhood, one doll and a few books.I was very very lucky, my parents were not rich, but loved to give my brother and l lovely presents , and l will be happy with those memories.

He had the best life. Total pampered pooch. He was a Heinz 57 as my mum used to say
Actually pets were a big part of my growing up. We always had some kind or other. Cats, dogs, hamsters, budgies, snakes, rats, mice, fish. All my responsibility (except the snake, that was my brothers) and all totally pampered
Barbies. I had loads of them that I got in America and some of them had gorgeous hair to their feet My mum and I used to sit ofr hours making clothes from old socks
And me! Always had dogs and cats. Also had 2 rabbitts; Hoppity and Dusty My dad built this huge run for them in the garden They both lived till they were 10 years old, which was great for a rabbit I think Also had guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils etc. Used to look after some of the rodents from School in the Holidays too Remember I cried my eyes out for days after our dogs died. Were so part of the family!quote:Originally posted by Cagney:quote:Originally posted by Marguerita:quote:Originally posted by Cagney:

My dad made me a dolls house. It was fantastic and he even carpeted it for me with off cuts from the carpets in our house so most of the rooms had a different flooring in them! it was fantastic.
I also loved Sindy, Barbie and Ken but poor Sindy was always looking on while B&K smooched!
I had a Girls World too which was amazing. The hair could go longer or shorter and you could put make up on her.
I also remember playing a LOT with the Purple People Eater. It was a stupid bit of plastic and I think there were lights too. I wanted it all year and was sooooo chuffed when Santa left it for me.
I played out a lot as a kid so have to give thanks for my Tommahawk bike, and my roller skates. I was also a demon at two balls and hula hoops. Happy days!
The last thing I want to mention is Simon. It was an electronic toy with four colours and you had to copy the lights in the correct sequence. I suppose it was a very early version of BopIt.
Cheers for the thread! It's nice remembering the good old days x
