I asked too and got the same response - the thing about us receiving a small dose of the flu is an urban myth. Anyone who gets a flu-like bug after a flu jab is just unlucky and it is a different strain to the one the flu jab contains.

I'd phone the GP instead. If she goes to the doctors, one of two things could happen. She passes the virus on to other sickly people, or she contracts the virus from somebody at the doctors.

NHS advise that if a person suspects they have Swine Flu, to phone their GP. The GP will then determine over the phone if the person is likely to have it. Tamiflu is being prescribed on tickets now, and they say that relatives or friends (non-ill) of the patient should pick up the prescription for them.

My daughter is so poorly, raging temp every muscle in her body aching, vomiting, headache and now has a secondary chest infection and is on anti biotics. i hope she is ok miss lippy, i have had the flu about 3 times in 25 years and when i get it i get it really bad...the whole process takes about 4 weeks from start to finish and during the second week i feel like i have been hit by a train, with all the swine flu problems at the moment i think a lot of people have forgotten how bad ordinary flu can be...my local health centre sent me a letter to get a flu jab as i was considered 'at risk' but every time i ring up they dont have any.......
