Nick Griffin  had been invited to a garden party today at Buckingham Palace. This is because he is a MEP so Buckingham Palace had little choice in inviting him.

It will never be known as to how he would have been regarded at Buckingham Palace and how the other 8000 guests would have reacted as at rather short notice the Palace banned him.

Before the ban was imposed Mr Griffin, an MEP for North West England, described the invitation on the BNP website as a "highly symbolic breakthrough" for the party and appeared on GMTV to talk about it.

However, in a statement, Buckingham Palace said: "Nick Griffin MEP will be denied entry to today's garden party at Buckingham Palace due to the fact he has overtly used his personal invitation for party political purpose through the media. This in turn has increased the security threat and the potential discomfort to the many other guests also attending.

At least that will save the Palace the cost of fumigating the place afterwards.

Griffin's wife and another guest who is also a BNP MEP won't be turned away, though they may decide not to turn up now.

People like Ben!
Below the belt. Just because he seems to have the attitude of looking out for the Commonwealth first (not my personal favourite policy, I'm sure you know that), does not mean that he is the sort of toff Phillip is. He's far too worried about insulting people and losing them as friends, for whatever reason.

He's a Paternalist. How much more 'Age of the Raj' could you get?
Well you keep saying he's a paternalist, but other then a few remarks about looking after 'ones own' before others, I don't see it. That would make a large percentage of people in this country paternalist. I haven't heard him being a bigot, a xenophobe or a misogynist, I haven't seen him wanting to get into a specific relationship to stay in the house. Yes, he has a bitch about people, but hardly anything he hasn't said to their face.

I think it was when he said, "I'm a Paternalist" and another time, when he said, "I believe in Paternalism".
Would you not call the Labour Party paternalist? We've been looked after and chased after for 13 years and it's done nobody any favours. Can we agree that Paternalism has been the system of systems for centuries? It's not my idea of Government, but neither is a so called coalition between 2 parties who despise each other.

That's one of the most insane postings I've ever seen.  I really enjoyed reading that.

I deleted someone from my FB last for supporting the beliefs of the Ku K**nts Klux Klan. There'll be no shit on my doorstep thank you, your honour! I'm keeping it real, not like all this paternalism malarky in here (and I haven't got a danny what it's all about). Phillip's a right dodgy looking fecker though. I've been saying it for years. Memba I told you.

Paternalism is not the Nanny State, if that's what you meant.
What's the difference? Paternalism has been used as a derogatory term, but it's been the bedrock of political systems for hundreds, if not thousands of years. What I'm trying to say is, it doesn't make anybody into the devil incarnate if they believe that the state should have the overall controll, I happen to believe that's a load of carp, but I still like Ben because he is prepared to discuss these things, whereas Josie would be floundering, sucking her thumb and caressing her blankey.
