Yes, do as my son did - learn from your mates and perhaps you could swap skills and give singing hints/lessons - go for it honest, good luck - keep us informed too. Thumbs Up Valentine

Hi PP. I liked the latter half, but found the first half too whispery, as you said.

I wish I could sing, at least you have got the voice to be able to.

As others said, you could learn the guitar which would probably help if you want to write your own songs (always good), but it isn't strictly necessary. Just helpful to you.

I'm looking forward to hearing any more songs that you put up. And give that talent show another go! You might be lucky next time! Thumbs Up

I admire the balls to put it on Youtube.

You have picked a very hard song to test, its a song where the guitar follows the voice and plays a subtle back rhythm and not the other way round as you clip has shown, thats not a dig its an observation.

Are you playing the guitar as you sing it?, if you are then try it with the song being played as a backing track and then sing it, you can concentrate more on your voice technique as opposed to single note and cord playing.

Find a song that maybe is more in line with your vocal connection and range as to be fair this doesnt work for me, you are straining to push the song forward.

Pink Plastic, these are just my thoughts mate and i know this is your first attempt as you said, dont give up, maybe just try a different track to play and let us hear it Hug

Bovril, I don't play the guitar my friend played it for me. I agree it's not the kind of song I normally sing, but I fancied giving something a bit different ago. I normally sing musical theatre to be honest and if I do pop it's stuff which is a lot louder and has very few quiet bits like this song has.

Next song I'll do something where I can show off my upper register and my power a bit more!

Aye nowt wrong with giving it a go lad, you obviously have a voice that can sing and i would like to hear it again done to something different.

I love the musicals, what songs do you like to sing to from the musicals

normally do something from Phantom of the Opera, Les Mis and things like that. I only have one other video of me singing and it was in our leaver's assembley last year. Me and my friend sang For Good from Wicked. It's not exactly what I would call a song that suited me, but the words fitted the occasion.

I am a tenor though so the stuff I normally sing is stuff like This is The Moment, Music of the Night. Stuff where I can get a bit of power in my voice, which none of these songs really show.

I've listened to it twice.. Ninja

Girrrrrrl you have a nice voice.. nothing wrong with your pipes.. but if I were to say one thing it would be about your interpretation. It sounds a little stage schooly.. like you're trying just a little too hard and you are a bit self conscious and desperate to 'get the part'. Listen to Snow Patrol's version again.. what works is it is very understated. Maybe also listen to Coldplay's 'Yellow'.. this is before Chris Martin got a little 'wanky'.. the simplicity of it. You get that down and imho you've cracked it.
