A small pink handled knife which chops anything.
A wooden spatula and my wok

Oh and two tablespoons that belonged to my Mum - they were wedding presents in 1945 Absolutely brilliant.

Generally people would be better buying an expensive and big knife and learning to use it properly.
I bought two sabateur knives a couple of years ago, I couldn't get to grips with them at first but now i would not be without them.

Yep.  I use a 10" Henckels for most of my chopping.

I suppose I was thinking 'gadgets' in terms of these daft "push a lever and dice your onion!!!!!!!" type adverts you see.  Pointless guff.  Good knife, learn it, care for it, love it...and you're away.

Guess I also have my sauce and balloon whisks (hate electric ones - lazy), wooden spoons, stick blender, ice cream maker etc.  I just hate the frivolous ones which only exist because people cant be bothered to learn to use a proper blade.

Now I have a magimix and I would not be without it,. BUT if I am making pastry I would always do the old fashioned way - rubbing in and mixing by hand. It makes the best pastry cos I think you really have to feel the dough if you see what I mean.

blue cheese dumplings sound lovely though

Just make a scone mix but substitute 75% of the butter with a blue cheese.  Mold into balls and lob on top of stew / casserole for 25 mins.  Thyme or rosemary works well in the dumplings.  Red wine in the stew is good.
