It is the biggest night of the year for Hollywood stars, but the rain threatened the designer gowns on the red carpet at Sunday's Academy Awards.

Fortunately Giuliana Rancic and Kelly Osbourne, who as hosts for E! are always the first arrivals, were armed with umbrellas to combat the wet weather.

They were also joined by Ireland Baldwin, who has been tasked with hosting the red carpet segment for Entertainment Tonight.

Fairytale inspired: [L-R) Ireland Baldwin, Kelly Osbourne and Giuliana Rancic looked like they'd just stepped out of story books on the Academy Awards red carpet in Hollywood on Sunday

I can honestly say I have never seen or heard of these two before.

I'm off to bed. Enjoy your evenings.

I'm pretty sure Gravity, 12 Years.. and Captain Phil will pick up most of the awards.

Isn't Ireland Baldwin the daughter of Kim Basinger and Alex Baldwin?

Best Actor: Matthew McConaughey;
Best Actress: Cate Blanchett

After that it becomes trickier, but here goes:
Best Supporting Actor: Jared Letto (with Barkhad Abdi as an outside bet);
Best Supporting Actress: Possibly the most open of the lot - I'd personally like it to be Sally Hawkins, but I think it will be Jennifer Lawrence, with Lupita Nyong'o as an outside bet;
Best Foreign Picture: The Great Beauty, although changes in the voting system might benefit the Belgian film, The Broken Circle Breakdown;
Best Animated Picture: Frozen

Beyond that, I'd expect Gravity to win a slew of technical awards, and I haven't a clue how the two screenplay awards wil go...

So: Lupita Nyong'o won best Supporting Actress, but right on all other counts.

I thought these Hollywood types had stylists. Surely someone would say something, unless it's an assistant having a spot of fun with Ms Minelli!
