he is this time around too
no menu's used - ingredients just chucked in with no weighing = no idea how much in or out of budget they are
in a quick look around James found the custard could save at least ÂĢ10000 a year with better practises used [ the guy in charge of the custard mix from memory is not impressed with any suggestions ]
no patient ward menu's so dont know how many they are cooking for until a quick call to each ward and then they are never sure and at least 40% food waste returned each meal provided
a quick visit back to Scarborough and they are doing well -James has enlisted the catering team from Scarborough to try and help out with ideas for Birmingham they even have people who book a holiday there go to visit the hospital restaurant to eat after watching the last series

I'm addicted to Saints and Scroungers - prefer Matt Allwright to Dom Little
has he underestimated the scale of the task ahead?
I saw the first series, but I'm getting really irritated by how many BBC programmes (see highlight above) use this method of early "jeopardy" with pained look to camera to hang the programme/series on.
Grand Designs is another, I love the programme, but quite tired them using the same technique.
It could be me getting grouchy or more likely getting increasingly tired of TV.

OMG am I on a whinge tonight. I've seen S&S a number of times. Wish they would run a story without breaking it into 4 chunks !!!

it's shocking what some people get away with claiming for kids and house's they haven't got and then go on lavish holidays and buy top of the range cars with the money they should do better checks on claimants, the government would save some money that way
Operation Hospital
OK so originally this series 2 was to help Birmingham's Royal Orthopaedic but 4 others asked for help so James has now enlisted the voluntary help from 10 other professionals to try and offer help to all five hospitals
one of these are in Wales and Lamb is a big issue - not on the menu because of the cost per KG but only bought in from Aus and NZ not Wales despite being plentiful as per a buying agreement within the admin structure
this will get changed I am sure
another of the extras is the hospital we use at Kings Lynn so interested to see what happens there but disappointed it wont be James's baby
so much crammed into 45 mins and sorry the programme is only running for a week
meant to say yesterday it was custard today it was soup this is at Birmingham where all veg is frozen and soup is made from a packet
James took over the kitchen and showed them how to make from scratch using fresh in 4 minutes - samples were taken to the wards for patients and staff to try and given a big
another ÂĢ10000 a year could be saved by going fresh
Ward staff had been asked to ring ward patient numbers in by 8 and no one had bothered - kitchen staff hadnt bothered to open the menu book and use appropriate quantities - as most of them have worked there a long time they admit they are used to doing it from their head and are finding the suggested changes hard - so all in all another trying day
watched it today, i grew up not far from that hospital.
Bristol Road South - I used to work there in the Personnel department in the Quad
If I was James, I'd be exasperated by those staff

If I ate meat which I don't as a veggie, I would not like to eat NZ lamb because it's all halal and I morally don't like the way they are killed (come to think of it, I don't like the way abattoirs kill meat here full stop) but I don't think people realise this - not that it makes a difference to the price

I went to Bournville college just before you get to the hospital
Ahh Small world Pengy! Haven't they moved the college now? They built a big new one next to Longbridge train station, I'm sure they called that one Bournville too, i could be wrong there though lol
