Last night I went to see Heaven 17 perform their album The Luxury Gap in it's entirety. I had such a good evening that I just wanted to shout about it.

Not only did they play their album, but they included a couple of Human League songs and a cover of the Associates "Party Fears Two". They also sneaked in a vocal duet between Martyn Ware and Glenn Gregory "You've lost that loving feeling" and an acoustic guitar excerpt from "Together in electric dreams" solo by Glenn Gregory.

Thanks. Yes they do it fairly regularly these days.

Yes, they fell off the musical radar somewhat, but around 1996 they started producing albums and touring again. Thanks I did.

That does sound like fun! I saw a good documentary on Heaven 17 a while ago, might have been one of those 'Classic Albums' programmes as it concentrated on Penthouse to Pavement and it's critique of the yuppie lifestyle that was emerging in the 80s. Irony being that it was almost cherished and adopted by a bunch of filofax waving noveau riche.

I went to see Duran Duran in concert last year at the o2 on a girly night and I was quite shocked at how much I enjoyed it, how catchy the tunes were and how many of the lyrics I knew considering I wasn't much of a fan as an 80s teen. I wouldn't mind going to see Heaven 17 now so will look out for their next round of gigs and organise another evening of back combing, shoulder pads and plastic jewellery with my friends

They recently toured Penthouse and Pavement as it was the 30th anniversary, so that may have been what you saw. It's interesting how they have drawn parallels between now and then in a political sense.

I always liked Duran Duran from Planet Earth album! they have a good catalogue of songs. I've seen them once live.

Next time they tour Suzy, I will post on here for you.

That'd be fab EC. Cheers  Duran do have a good catalogue, some of their later stuff is great as well, 'Come undone' sounded amazing live. I used to love ABC as well, wore down my cassette of Lexicon of Love at the time.

ABC are another band I have seen a couple of times over the last few years. Lexicon of Love is a great album, but I also like a couple of the other albums too notably How To Be A Zillionaire.

Here's a video from the album.

Satori's not on it, don't think I've ever heard it.

Ah, I see. Still a good idea to take the drudgery out of house work

A quick search on YouTube may find that tune. I'll post if I find it (check back).

I have never seen a band perform the same song twice (different versions) at a gig before, but yes really enjoyed it. All the crowd sang, giving Glenn G a rest - lol

I will be seeing The Human League at the Sheffield City Hall on December 4th.

Looking forward to it.

Where are you going to see them Cinds?

He He - nice recitation Angel.

The album has just been re-released as a 2 CD/DVD set in a clam shell box.

Pretty good value at ÂĢ13.99. The DVD has the promo videos on it.

Maths wasn't obviously there thing

I always thought that, but the song would probably not scan so well if they sang "you were half my age plus three remaining"

Hey but to us pedants, it would have been fine.  Luckily in the 80's I didn't notice such things.  I was too bogged down with electric blue eyeliner and mascara
