Thanks, katty. I've had hamsters with wet tail (courtesy of Pets at Home), hamsters with diabetes, but not cancer thank goodness.
Aww no, poor Marble. RIP little one. for you Deman.
Thanks, Queenie. I'll be keeping a very close eye on his brother Motley from now on. He's seen his two brothers die within a few weeks of each other, so even though he looks fine now, his time is running out too.
And he's never been on his own before.

Very sorry to hear this Deman. I send my sympathy.
Your concern and love to the very end, came across on this forum
Warm thoughts and best wishes to you.

It's always tragic when we lose pets.

True. They really are part of the family.

I'm sorry to hear that poor little Marble has gone off to the great hammy wheel in the sky, Deman
Poor Motley. And poor you. It's horrible knowing that they are coming to the end. Things are not looking good for our Paddy at the moment. He's 14 this year and he's a big dog. He's been on medication for years for his arthritis but his legs are really going now and weight is dropping off him so he's looking really fragile. I'm just hoping he can keep going for a bit longer. Life will be easier for him at the new house as there's only one flight of stairs and he won't even need to use those. It would be nice to take him with us so he can retire by the patio doors and bark at birds all day.
Queenie.....
awwwwwwwwwwww poor marble

I keep saying "Right that's it no more hamsters!" WE have had Syrian hamsters since my niece was 8,she's now 22.We are on our fifth hammny(eLWOOD)...Sigh!(whispers) I see a "Jake" on the horizon. That big triple deck cage needs a lodger!
I know that feeling, katty. But the OH has a hankering for a "big fat ginger Syrian" when Motley and Gray have departed. And he's already thinking of names...
You don't actually see that many golden Syrian hamsters around, they seem to breed fancier colours etc.
I know - I don't think I've ever had a classic Syrian (apart from the two that Pets At Home sold me with wet tail, remember that horror story?).
But the OH has a hankering for one, so..

He's pushing up dandelions now, as opposed to scoffing them. I'm over it now, and I still have two of the little furries left.
Deman, my brother & his gf had a hamster that looked like the top one there, it died last week

Shame
It was about 2.5, so he'd lived quite a long time for a hamster
That's a good age, Saz.
Earlier today I deleted my post from the other day. I realised either it wasn't read or just passed by because of no interest, or if it was noticed no one cared what I was going through even though I've reached out to those here who've had a pet loss. My beloved kitty passed on Friday and we're totally devastated, don't expect anyone to understand how we feel, why should they? they didn't know her. Won't say any more, far too painful to talk about but I've noticed something here.
YR, what's wrong? I honestly didn't see your post, or I would have replied to it.
I'm so sorry to hear about your cat - you must be in bits over it. And I'm also sorry if you feel you've been snubbed. That wasn't my intention and I hope it wasn't anyone else's, either.
