Tomorrow night I am off to see this... (and really looking forward to it)

ABC

Friday 6th November
at Sheffield City Hall
7.30pm
Irwin Mitchell Oval Hall

We're looking forward to welcoming you to Sheffield City Hall when ABC perform their debut album 'Lexicon of Love' live this November.

We want to make your night with Martin Fry, the Southbank Sinfonia Orchestra and Anne Dudley as memorable as possible as you enjoy timeless hits including 'Poison Arrow' and 'The Look of Love' in what is sure to be one of the highlights of the year!

I'm guessing that's a local(ish) venue for you?

Yes, I live in the city centre and it's just a 10 mins walk from couch to concert.

Got 4 friends joining me as they were fans back in the day. Really looking forward to the orchestra too, with Anne Dudley (Art of Noise).

Had a great time Roger

They did all the favourites and Martyn Fry's voice still sounds great for a 56 year old. I like the suit he was wearing (thinking of adopting the style myself).

The conductor was Anne Dudley (Art of Noise and Full Monty soundtrack Oscar winner).

Could watch it all over again

I can... look

I like the slim fit suits and he (along with Daniel Craig) look good in them because they FIT.  Olly Murs and Dermot Dreary could look and learn.

Yes, completely agree Cosi. A well tailored suit can look wonderful. I'm really drawn to the three piece look, crisp shirt and tie.

I must say, Mr Fry comes across as a very classy gent.

I saw him in some docu quite a while ago (presumably about 80's bands?) and he really did seem like a decent, well grounded bloke.

I've never understood why people expect singers to sound exactly the same for the rest of their lives:  voices change and as long as they adapt the song to suit the voice then that's fine with me.  That said, he sounds hardly any different!

Yes, that is true about voices and most singers I listen to have changed over time to a greater or lesser degree. The only time I tend to become less interested is when the voice really has started to go and it does not sound so good.

I believe Mr Fry was very ill a while back, came through it and really good to see him back on the road and recording again.

To be perfectly honest, back in the day I was not a mad crazy ABC fan. I liked some of their output and have bought albums over the years. I am pleased to hear the songs live and that they have stood up over time.

I'm the same.

Although if I really like the artist then I'll will them to be good

I've seen the odd singer in my time that is at the stage where they 'talk-sing' their way through songs. I struggle to listen to that type of artist.
