It's a treatable disease these days DID with antibiotics, but it usually involves a course of 6 months so she's in for the long haul.  Sometimes people go into hospital for that long.  What scares me is that you cannot make people who have TB take the antibiotics which is why it is so rife atm.  I'm not saying they should be shoved down against someones will but if they won't willingly take them, they should be quaranteen at home!

It's also another reason why people shouldn't spit when outside and should take a hankie with them

Dont know much about TB,other than It is a air born infection, years ago they used to screen anyone that had been in contact with the patient but I dont no if they still do that....... Hope your friends are soon well,

Thanks Pengy, I panicked abit as it's something you don't really hear about many people getting these days. ALL the staff in the other office are going to be screened for it, my boss is also looking into getting her the best Healthcare possible She's only bloody 22

Thought that's why we all had our BCG jabs at 13 to protect us,or are they now not working? Perhaps she missed hers.

They havent done the BCG for years in rural and semi rural areas as the disease was' in decline'.This despite the fact my kids go up to major cities(including London) where it IS rife

Poor lass! I actually thought it was  poor standard of living and poor diet which made you more likely to get TB! Try the wtddty site...you might have to join.. but you can always unjoin later... doesn't cost owt! Type in Tuberculosis and you might get all the info you need! I personally find the site very informative! Good luck!
