It is jonsey and ducky, he says, they might not be completely on the right side of the law, but they should be able to stay there because of their way of live and because it's not clear if the site is actually green belt or brown belt. It sounds like they've been sold the land with the promise of being able to build on it, but in actual fact, the council, in it's wisdom, has not given them planning permission.

According to what i have read about this, they say it was a scrapyard when they bought it and not green belt land? This as i understand has been going on for 10 years now.I think it's about time the Gov't laid down hard and fast rules about all these "travelers" setting up camp all around the country. It is a difficult issue to comment on as the site in question differs considerably from all the other illegal camps around where they stay for a week or two and then get evicted only to set up further down the road. They all seem to be tarred with the same brush but in this case they seem to have set up a decent site and have lived there for 10 tears but seem to be on the wrong side of the planners. Even the UN got involved saying this could be discrimination but to be honest, it's just a matter of unlawful residence on green belt land according to the council.

Sorry for the long post but if the council have taken so long to act then i think they should be allowed to stay.
