Hope she hasn't gone out too fast :nervous:
Oooo 3rd
Hope she hasn't gone out too fast :nervous:
Yeah, I get like that too
COME ON LIZZIE!!!!!
She looks happy anyway
And what's the bunting?
You see there is a line of bunting over the pool at about 5m away from the ends of the pool? That is so they know how far they have before the wall when they're doing backstroke and they know when to turn, you count your arm strokes and turn over when you know you're at the wall. She said it was 2-3 strokes for them, it's 5 for me - littler arms and (much) slower speed
Oooo! Ta for that! Me? Drop like a stone on entry and bottom feed!
awww 5th She took 2 seconds off her earlier time though
Go Steph
Here's your girl Steph Saz
Awww Steph's getting left a bit
Poor start
Saz, why do they all spend so much time under water at the start before they begin the stroke? It seems slower that way than starting the stroke asap.
oohh she came back well, but don't think it was enough
Poor start
but she didn't half give it some welly at the end!
She did you proud Saz!

Coz you can move quicker underwater than on top
Oops! Sorry Saz, I didn't mean to but in
Aww bless her
awwww no, 9th!!! Gutted
awwww... she was so upset!!
Someone needs to go & knobble one of the others so she gets through
Someone needs to drop out eh? Might nip round to the Olympic village later on... food poisoning maybe?

ION - the girl is still sniggering & finbarring at the use of the word "semi"
its getting soooo irritating now
awwww... she was so upset!!
Daawww, I wanted to give her a hug
And what's the bunting?
The line of little flags they string across the pool to let the backstrokers know they're near the end of the lane.

oh yes, what Sprout said They had to put a limit on the distance they can go underwater after someone did a whole length once I think it's 15m

She really did She came back so well, just gutted for her!

Thanks Pam and Saz. But when I watch the amount they slow down under water before they start the stroke seems a bit sort of self-defeating! It must just be how it comes across on TV to me.
Aww....Japanese swimmer looks happy to be there
oohh men's 200m IM, I do like an IM
Well done MP in the IM
Aww....Japanese swimmer looks happy to be there
He really did! I like it when they look happy to be there/win something
I'm SO unspeakably gutted that I couldn't get any tickets for the swimming
ION: my parents were at the dressage earlier today and seem to have had a good time The British riders were 1st and 2nd - it continues tomorrow
PLEEEEEEASE BBC! NEVER put that Ian Thorpe next to Mark Foster again! Talk about not being able to get a word in edge ways.
I've been building a shed all day What did I miss?
Lots.
Silver in women's judo
Gold and silver in canoeing
Gold in shooting
And our ladies pair were disqualified during the cycling.
Oh......so mostly a good day! I bet we've zipped up the medals table then! If we're still behind kazakhstan I will be miffed!
I'm gutted I missed the gymnastics though
Why were the cyclists disqualified? We didn't purposely try to lose did we?
I think we're now 5th on the medals table.
LOL, no we didn't try to lose, it was some technical thing about positioning.
I think they were too close together when they crossed the line (or maybe it was not close enough), but I'm not really sure.
Ahh! Got it now, the rider who was to take over for the next lap passed the rider who was in front in this lap BEFORE they crossed the line.

They glide through the water underwater Xochi and then they can only go a certain distance before they have to come up and start swimming
Well done MP in the IM
Look at you all technical
