Last night down our alley came a torff
queer old geezer with a nasty corff
sees my missus takes 'is cady orf
in a very gentlemanly way..
Says he "mam I 'ave got some news to tell
Your old uncle down in camberwell
Passed on and 'e asn't left a will
Only left ' is little donkey shay..
So "wotcha" all the neighbours cry
'oo you gonna meet Bill, 'ave you bought the street Bill?
Laugh, I thought I would have died
Knocked them in the old Kent Road..

Ahh yes. My mate used to trill along to her favourite song "You little truck maker"
We'd giggle for hours over that. I don't think the Trammps would have been so impressed though.

Carnelian..
I have just bookmarked that site - thanks.
Mary Ellen at the Church turned up is a very old family song.
My parents sang it to me. I sang it to my kids...
And thus it goes on

I know that song..! Well I suppose I should do coming from London.
Never properly knew the verse but the chorus is a different matter.

So, it's all around to K-Bo's attic for the spoils of her vinyl sale, eh?

Sarf innit. Lambeth gal. 'The Walk' I do by default. I did defect to across the river for a while and am now down near the coast.Originally Posted by Smarting Buttocks:

That is one of my favourite albums. It was recently given away (CD format) by the Mail on Sunday......was the only reason I bought the paper.
I've got 100's of albums, 12 inch & 7inch singles, picture covers & picture discs.
All scattered around various places, Some still at my Mum's, some in the loft, I've got a lot of different coloured vinyl 7inch singles from the late 70's early eighties. Some were worth a few bob at one stage, I went to a record collectors fair once to sell, ended up buying more. I couldn't part with any. I'm not sure some of them would be playable now as they've not been stored in a ideal way.
