Pfffft - could have been any one of a number of songs I reckon

Actually I feel a bit ashamed. My father in law is 90, fought in WW2 and I roll my eyes a bit when he starts on his war stories
i have done the same - my Nan has been dead for twenty eight years - she loved to talk but .............i never really listened. She had some wonderful stories. Same can be said for a lot of my family. You can never get it back.

I resolve to listen a bit more to my mums ramblings!

See...?  This is the type of thing I mean.  Rexi that sounds wonderful

How many of us forget events..? yet the most obscure or bizarre moments are remembered SO easily because of the music playing at the time?  Even Sprouty recalls New York, New York 'cos she got slung out!

Oh.. I didn't know you got them... i had to press the centre out of another single if I wanted to play a jukey rescue disc.

I also remember taping a penny to the stylus head when I needed a new 'needle' and it kept slipping.

Dad was stationed abroad in the war and he and Mum wrote to each other ... they kept all the letters - around 500 and we have them all.
My Mum kept daily journals for over 30 years - right up to when she died... They are  an amazing history of our family..
Something very special to treasure, Issy.

Are you saying our Sprout's worked her way through the charts top 100...????

You'll just have to veer your pa in law onto the subject of the music, Rexi - I bet he'll start serenading you if you're a good girl.   Ask him who his fave was - Vera Lynn or Anne Shelton.

I used to love listening to my wee nana talking about wartime in Govan - they got hit hard in air raids because of the shipyards, and I'd listen half terrified at the thought , half laughing when she told me about  what it was like .. like the time she charged out to the shelter with all their provisions, ran round to get the elderly woman next door ,got all settled in.. then realised she'd left my mum ( just a baby) under the kitchen table in a basket!

Issy.. me too.. and my sister once barged in when I was taping and I was frowning madly at her to shut up and get out.     To this day I can't hear Hot Chocolate sing 'So you win again.. without expecting to hear the words 'I'm flipping SORRY!' and a door slam.

My Dad used to listen to the radio show "Sing Something Simple" on a Sunday afternoon while he was making tea.
He always did Sunday tea and it was just wonderful. He could never make a cup of tea for any of us without stirring it vigorously first and then tasting it
