It's an old rhyme going back centuries as far as I know.

Re sigs - I don't know if you know but on C4 we used to open one of these reply boxes, work on the sig here and then cut and paste it into the sig box in your profile.
That way you can jazz it up so it stands out from you post and you can add a line above it too
