She was demanding tapes to prove they had kept her against her will, wasn't she? Then she went on hunger strike over it. Then I think she decided to snap out of it and get on with her life.
It all got rather complicated, but she essentially proved her point: the release of the tapes showed that she'd asked to leave the house before the voting lines opened, and that Endemol had lied to the police about that...

Yes I remember and without her suitcase she couldn't shower because of medication for a skin complaint if I remember correctly. I think Endermol were trying to make good tv,forgetting that viewers knew that she had asked to go and wanted to go  well before all the palaver started.

I liked her, but she got the message from her sister the night before, then told the housemates that she had set up a code with her sister, if her sister felt that she was being portrayed badly. I don't blame them for chucking her out for breaking the rules.

I do, however, blame Nikki for starting the 'stinky Dawn' rubbish, especially as Dawn had been so good to the nasty, little beech!

Ah! That puts a completely different slant on it now...all this time I've been thinking that she was just being a pain..but it seems like the BB chiefs were messing with her mind more than they let on. I remember Davina and co. (could have been Dermot) sneering about her depature.
[Apologies in advance - this has become a lot longer than I intended.]

I posted a lot in defence of Dawn on the old forum. I'm afraid I can't be bothered digging out all the old links again (and I probably couldn't find them all anyway), but the bare minimum of investigation (and actually listening to what Dawn had to say, which the press generally avoided) suggests that BB set Dawn up as a scape-goat big time.

Some misunderstandings during the audition process meant that the BB producers saw Dawn as a potential "series villain" - someone likely to bully the others. In fact a quick glance at her VT showed this to be nonsense - whith a history of charity work and tackling muggers, she came across as someone much more likely to stand up for other HMs against perceived injustice, and that's exactly what happened.
From what Dawn has said on other forums, it sounds as if she got into a major scrap with the producers in the DR throughout the first week. She'd worked a lot with people suffering from mental health issues, and felt that quite a few of the HMs simply shouldn't have been there - e.g. Shahbaz, Lea and Nikki. Add to that the nonsense over the missing suitcases and I imagine the producers were becoming desperate to get rid of her.

My own theory about the eviction vote is that BB had got into a bit of a panic over the way that the "Big Brotherhood" was turning-out. Glyn was already clearly liked by the producers, and comments afterwards showed that Bonnie was too (Dermot described her eviction as the biggest "waste" of the series). Unfortunately the suitcase twist had ensured that we'd seen very little of her, so she was favourite to go. Once Dawn said she wanted to leave, BB must have thought they could change her mind and keep her in till the vote - hoping she'd be evicted instead (they'd previously convinced Orlaith to stick it out). So we had the situation of BB taking voters money for a HM who they knew wanted to leave immediately. When it became clear that Dawn wasn't going to play ball, they branded her a cheat (and subsequently lied to the police and Ofcom) to cover themselves. Remember that the whole "Shut up!" thing really came about because Dawn entered the DR thinking they were going to finalize her leaving details (she'd already told the other HMs this), but the penny quickly dropped and she realized she was being set-up.

As for the Dawn/Nikki thing: I think that was seriously over-emphasised. Certainly Nikki was extremely close to Dawn early-on. Dawn said afterwards that Nikki seemed to be treating her as a substitute mother, and this was part of the reason why she thought that Nikki wasn't really equipped to be in the house...

I can't remember all the details after so long, but I believe Dawn's defence was that the coded message came after she'd approached the producers about leaving.

This was why she kicked up such a fuss about obtaining the house videotapes - as the tapes later proved, BB told a lot of lies about the chronology of events leading up to her removal. They even lied to the police about the existence of the tapes in order to cover their backs...

Which one was Bonnie? I can't remember her at all
Bonnie was the first to enter the BB7 house, and the first proper evictee. I suspect her VT didn't do her any favours as it gave the impression (wrongly, as it turned out) that she was a clone of BB6's Lesleh.

BB wanted to include her amongst the HMs who re-entered the house, but in the end she, along with Sezer, was ineligible for *ahem* "legal reasons".

Her and Pete were the first two hms in that year. I think she said something in her VT about making Davina 'flick her button'
There was confusion over her accent as well I can't remember exactly but her opening exchange with Pete went something like:
Pete - What's your name?
Bonnie - Bonneh
Pete - BonnEH?
Bonnie - Nooooo, Bonner
Pete - BonnER?
Bonnie - Noooo BonnEEEEE

I really don't know how BB thought they could get away with it, I remember watching her that night and she said many times, before the supposedly coded message she had asked to leave.
She had no clothes, the other girls clothes wouldn't fit her because she was a lot taller than the rest, her medication for her skin condition was in her case, All in all I really think she had an awful time and I really can understand why she was livid when she eventually got out.

The producers decided they were going to get her, basically, because she admitted to the others that she'd acted more extreme in her VT to get in (don't most of them?).

I remember her saying she hated everybody, would invite Hitler to dinner, etc. All she really wanted to go in for was publicise some health campaign that she was involved in, not cause fights as she'd told BB.
BB felt made of fool of, and retaliated. Pathetic, really.

The thing is...that if she had prescribed medication for a skin complaint...surely BB was way out of order for not allowing her to have it in the first place?

Sorry Katee, I said medication and shouldn't have...it was special creams and washes for her skin. Not sure if it was prescribed or not, but it was the only thing she would/could use. I really can't remember if she ever got them or not.

As you say, a lot of HMs make extreme claims at audition - indeed, it's practically become expected (remember BB5's Stuart claiming he'd be the most intelligent HM ever?)

The thing about Dawn though is that after she realized that the producers had actually believed her initial claims, she went out of her way to try and correct their preconceptions at later stages in the audition process. Apparently a relative (her sister?) was even interviewed as part of the process, and tried to correct these preconceptions. However the producers just refused to admit that their initial "pigeon-holing" was wrong...
