It's her birthday in February - think I'll wait and see if it comes down in an after Xmas sale.

Soozy Woo

Not sure if anyone shops at Matalan but they have some party shoes on sale for less than a tenner with free delivery as well.

I've just ordered these:

Not the most amazing shoes ever but they only cost a fiver including delivery so even I only wear them once or twice they're still worth it!  I only bought them to go with a beige blouse I bought yesterday (again on sale ÂĢ6) that I plan on wearing with black chinos around xmas.  Bargains all round!

Anyone ever tried any of these smell-alike scents?

(From MoneySavingExpert):

Some clever forumites have sniffed out dirt-cheap dead ringers for posh perfumes. They say Next Just Pink smells just like Ralph Lauren Romance, and M&S True Red smells like Hugo Boss Deep Red.

Here are a few others forumites have nosed out, though always smell for yourself before you buy (see the full smell-alike forum discussion for more):

  • Chanel Allure - M&S Sensuale
  • Miss Dior - Avon Timeless
  • L'eau D'Issey - M&S Isis
  • Armani She - Next Define
  • D&G Light Blue - M&S Azure Breeze
  • Coco Mademoiselle - Lidl Suddenly Madam Glamour

50% off M&S gift sets: Plus if you're after M&S smell-alikes, it's having a 50% off selected gift sets promotion until Mon 24 Dec, which includes some of these fragrances too. See below for info.

Went for the vanilla and the Belgian chocolate.

2 pots for ÂĢ4.

Are the burgers on 'special' offer too? Under starters orders?

Good timing Soozy, I've just started a thread on that subject. But to answer your question I don't know as I don't eat burgers having worked in a butchers shop in my youth.

Well done Rexi, would seem we both had a successful trip into Boots

Went into HMV today and they have got lots of blu-ray catalogue titles for ÂĢ4.99. Many of which I own, but I spotted The Sound of Music, Predators, 2 different Family Guy releases amongst many. The strange thing was that they all had slip cases and looked like new and there were lots of them.

Anyway if you live near a store and fancy the odd bargain, you may find one or two.

No, but I've become braver in rl shops of late! I would normally never dream of asking for a discount. Crazy, I know, 'cos I wouldn't think twice about it when abroad. Sometimes it's been about snooty shop assistants who I wouldn't give the satisfaction to! How crackers is that, when they're probably on the minimum wage I'll diversify further for a moment: I remember my seriously wealthy bf picking up a belt she liked a couple of years ago in a shop that we don't normally frequent, taking it to the till and the haughty assistant saying, "Do you realise that it's ÂĢ250?" We thought, ÂĢ250 for that, never, BUT, cheeky cow, does she think that she can't afford it! So did we say, what can you do it for, did we hell! Good ploy on their part, she paid the ÂĢ250 for a belt that was probably worth about a third of that! (It was Duncan Bannanytne's wife's shop which lasted about 5 mins btw!)

The places I normally shop just knock 20-30% off at the till without any discussion or the embarrassment of having to ask: easy. However, last w/e when I had 10 mins to buy a piece of jewellery for my aunt's 86th birthday at the last minute, in a shop I've been in twice, I simply silently gulped and asked, "What's the best that you can do that for" and I got a 30% reduction!

The moral of the story: If you don't ask, you don't get..... N Easterners version: Shy girls get nowt

form an orderly queue.....

Well I did not think anyone (apart from Soozy) had noticed my in hindsight rather rash offer.

Any thoughts on how I'm going to deliver on this?

Will this work?
