Does anyone remember a foreign film about a telephone box that used to trap people and then they would be taken away to this large warehouse where there were loads of other telephone boxes with people in? I can't remember what it was called but it was a weird film.
I know it's already been identified, but I'm coming in late here, so please humour me...
"La Cabina" was actually a short Spanish TV movie. It was shown on late-night UK TV back in the 70's and almost immediately achieved legendary status. It was made while Franco was still in power, and its political analogies are fairly obvious and actually quite brave in that context...
The Spanish seem to be very good at these sorts of films - probably because of the Franco legacy. This is another interesting one, although the trailer doesn't do it justice, IMO...
Only ones with Alain Deon in, always garanteed to see a wang in them days....
I'll 2nd Pans Labryinth and Let The Right One in, dunno if it's been said yet, haven't read the whole thread, but my daughter recommends Gomorrah. Don't know if it's crap, if so don't blame me but it's Italian and v. shouty, she says.
Heard lots of good things about that Brazilian one about, city of something? Was it Angels? Dunno (apologies if I'm just repeating stuff)

Hello leccy good to see you back
Anyone that tells you "Audition" is the bestest Japanese horror ever, is telling fat porkies too btw. It's creepy a bit, but makes no effin' sense and is not all that. Seriously not all that (and I speak as someone who prefers physiological horror over torture-porn, so it's not like I was needing more gore)
Hiya Gyps, ta

I think it was City of Lost Children, great film, very old though. Hi Leccy quote:Spirited Away is a great film ...and Kung Fu Hustle is really funny!
I really didn't 'get' Spirited Away

Does the passion of the christ count?
It was subtitled so I'd say yes
Audition did have one of the most toe curling grim scenes I've ever seen though
I think so Lecs.... it was a Japanese cartoon one, I got bored and confused
I saw a proper good one a couple of years ago but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called

Yep Rawky but I dunno, it didn't hit my spot.
Saz, I heard loads about that one and saw a few clips but it didn't grab me, so I didn't bother watching it.

Kwaidan
Onibaba
Santa Sangre
Au Bout De Souffle
All incredible films. I get really annoyed with people who refuse to watch a film just because it's subtitled.

I once knew a guy who wouldn't watch films he didn't like the sound of. If the title didn't grab him he wouldn't watch it. Seriously.
