Yes...all those people crammed into the house

The 14 Albanians! I felt really sorry for them too

I haven't watched it but I'm sick and tired of blatantly political right wing TV.

I watched C4's 'Skint' and that was blatant Tory party spin.

Every day the BBC gets pilloried by the Murdoch press and DM for its 'bias' yet we have 'Saints and Scroungers", "Kyle", "Skint" and "People like us".

C4 is the worst by far.  For all its historical liberal claims, it's by far the worst for pumping out right wing propaganda.

All these recent series have a theme that residents are chosen to confirm to right wing stereotypes of the undeserving poor.

I'm sick of TV companies being propagandists for the Tory Party.

Benefit Street producers even supplied their favourite undeserving poor characters with free cans of beer and filmed them drinking in the street.

I think Owen Jones has hit the nail on the head with his critique of modern media "Chavs: the demonisation of the working class".  At some point it became uncomfortable and uncool for middle class media types to sneer and take pot shots at immigrants and non white races.  That meant that the only fair game was the white lower working class.

I'm not surprised that C4 delivered a more sympathetic account of Romanian immigrants because, heaven forbid, the last thing the trendies at C4 want is to be accused of racism.  However, when it comes to the struggling white, unemployed working class, they are fair game for vilification.

Channel Four's the lowest common denominator these days as we all well know.

Indeed they are.  They've recently puffed themselves up with lots of spin about how radical and anti-establishment they are.

That may have been the case in the 80s and 90s but today they stuff their schedules with tawdry lifestyle exploitation like the Gok Wann shows, property and cookery shows.

They were anti-establishment in the 80s and 90s but they're a tawdry purveyor of sensationalist exploitation and rightist propaganda these days.
