I have just read an amazing book, written by a Ryal Marine, who, whilst he was serving in Afghanistan, came across some terribly ill-treated and abandoned dogs, and it`s his story about how he, against overwheming odds, managed to rescue some...

It`s called "One dog at a time", by Pen Farthing, and it`ll bring a lump to your throat for sure, as some of the things done to those dogs are pretty barbaric...

He`s gone on to set up a rescue charity, but I`m not sure what the rules are here for giving out web-site addresses?

Thanks for that. Smiler

It`s www.nowzaddogs.co.uk

I`ve got nothing for respect for anyone involved in animal rescue.

My last dog was a rescue dog, she had been really badly treated, and used to shake like a jelly if anyone outside the family went near her.

There`s a lady who I sometimes see when I`m out with the dog I have now, who fosters animals who are too ill, or just too badly traumatised to be re-homed.

She had one beautiful little dog a couple of years ago, who had been so badly kicked and beaten, that his liver and kidneys had been so damaged that nothing could be done for him, yet he was the friendliest little thing you could wish to meet, and at least his last few months were spent in a loving home...

My first dog was from the RSPCA. She was a boarder collie X and I had her until she was almost 20.

She was the most loyal canine friend and still holds a very special place in my heart.

I can't understand cruelty to animals, particularly dogs, either. They are always pleased to see us and give nothing but unconditional love.

I'm just looking at my 2 Cocker Spaniels, both stretched out on the sofa. Spoilt or what?? Smiler

Hiya dragon Big Grin nice to see you Nod

Ours have their own sofa in the hall, when they want some peace that's where they go, otherwise, they are right under our flipping feet ALL the time, we can't get off our own sofa without standing on one of them Roll Eyes Big Grin
