You're gossip I was not addressing.  I've not a clue about it's veracity - same as the rest of us.  Your 'knowledge' of how hand-cuffing the press can/does work is something I think I can reasonably expect you to take responsibility for.  No more, no less.

When Prince Harry served in Afghanistan the press agreed to keep schtum - there was no court order - simply a gentlemens agreement. Now I'm not saying that this is anywhere near the same level of seriousness - just saying it does happen. There really is no need to be so rude and such a bloody know all.

Just a thought as I know nothing about this but maybe there is a press ban until DNA testing is done, there is a law that if you are famous and don't drape yourself in the limelight you are entitled to your privacy..If HGerrards brief thought this was about to be exposed he would have been in like Flynn to stop it in the assumption that paternity has not been proven yet and for Gerrard to be named could damage his image and marage....

Sooozy, you are correct in your assumption. I grew up with both my parents in journalism and it is entirely possible to smother a story for whatever (spurious or serious) reasons. Don't know about the internet though...that's how I found about the story on my facebook

Yes and the rumours have been circulating on there for sometime. As for the German press - i really don't think they are as obsessed about matches against England as we are against them. It's big news for us - they have plenty of bigger enemies than us - we are pretty small fry to them and probably don't warrant too many column inches.
