some places really do rip you off

now if i'd not had the confidence to say 'no' i wud have been a victim
Some dont have that confidence and place trust in 'professionals', some are trusting.

This is why i call it theft

I used to work for Partco Autoparts years ago. We supplied car parts to the garages. I know exactly how much mark up some of them use. Have you tried to go somewhere like Partco directly?

I saved loads (don't ask me the amounts... I am in the girly car owner category ) but getting a non-branded clutch cable in my car.

But it was crap. And it knackered up something else (the clutch perhaps... dunno).

Am sticking with Nissan parts from now on!

It's sometimes a case of cheap part = made in China, imported for pennies and will more than likely trash your car, but the choice is yours. The ones to watch out for are the garages who tell you they're fitting genuine parts and charge you accordingly, but fit the cheap (badly made) copies.
