Lil matches with a thick black coating and a red tip available during the 70's - rememeber them??
Strike them and they wud fizz like a sparkler but it was red .... and they were mint!!!
Does anyone remember - does anyone know where to get them???
THIS IS THE ONE TOPIC "NOSTALGIA" HAS FAILED TO ADDRESS
Hi Renton
I remember something similar called "Bengal Matches" which were also wrapped in paper inside the matchbox. They would glow red or green when burning and you only got a few in a box. They stopped selling them for safety reasons...
Blimey Heat - Renton will be so excited - we have been trying to find these blinking matches for him for ages
Well done you

Me either Syd, but Renton has mentioned them a few times (London Lights, he calls them) and it looks like Heat has come up trumps

My 1st cassette recorder
I used to have this computer thing too. I'm sure the attached cassette bit had a green button. You played games on it and you had to load the cassette. Took forever and screeched like hell but the fruit machine game was well worth the wait. I can't remember the name of it and it's gonna bug me.

I love the opening music to The Mysteries Of Edgar Wallace, it's called the Man of Mystery theme played by The Shadows.

In British humour, the phrase British Rail sandwich refers to sandwiches sold for consumption on passenger trains of the former British Rail (BR). Its use principally arose in British popular culture through comedic references to the food item as emblematic of the unappetizing fare available aboard Great Britain's railway service during the period of nationalisation from 1948 to 1994.
I can't find a picture of a BR sarnie so for prosperity I have found a few which serve as a reminder of what was a great institution.
