Nice one John...
Thank you Suzie - i am realising now that there was so much Astoria posted that i knew nothing about
Its kinda sad that although i adored her - there was so much i never knew (sigh)
Its odd that i now view Astoria with nostalgia wen all i ever thought was the best was still to come

My personal belief is that we never get to really know a person as we grow we have to adapt to our life's choice. In doing this we are always changing and trying to improve who we are.

Renton, if you really can't get over this, I would suggest you speak to someone professionally. I realise the grieving process is different in extremes for various people. But you do seem to obsessing a liitle at the moment, and I'm sorry if I seem to talking out of turn or anything
Yep - this doesn't help.
Just thought people wud understand and allow me to get it out of my system amongst friends.
I do understand your answer/reaction renton, and I only said what I did out of concern

If your sister had one then you'll know that the sound is brilliant on them especially when you are playing classical music in a great hall

Think it's fine to "obsess" at such an early stage of grieving and it's not helpful to get bereavement counselling at this early stage. What people need is to be able to talk and talk and talk to friends/family and try and make sense of it all, reminisce etc. so I say, go ahead. Didn't know Astoria, and don't think Ive ever posted with you Rented, but have read the stuff on here re her death, so here's another hug for you

OOPS! That should have said Renton , not Rented
SuperCali - well thank you so much, it is only 48hrs since i was told afterall.
Everyone reacts differently, everyone uses this forum differently and the thing i loved about Astoria was her openess and tolerance towards others needs.
I have to accept not everyone is the same.
I'll be ok - thanx for your concern

Sure you will be, and it's definitely 'better out than in' Renton when it comes to loss imo. I've had my share and often the loss is as much, if not more about the future that you thought you had than the past, so take care

Does anyone remember buying eggs years ago ............they used to have a tray and would hold everyone up to a little light to check that they were fresh before putting them into a BAG!
I'm fairly sure egg boxes must have come along shortly after that but I definitely remember the whole egg buying thing at Home and colonial ................OMG - it's like another world really.

No but I do remember my Mum buying sugar, tea and currents in dark blue paper bags, the shopkeeper weighed it up and poured it into the bags and folded the bag at the top.

I never had one myself unfortunately...
And also - Guards cigarettes.
They were short ones in a red, white, and gold packet with a picture of a guard on the front.
Made by carreras who make Rothmans.
I loved them.
If anyone knows where you can get them I would love to know!

This takes me back to those wonderful fancy dress parties when you felt you were absolutely gorgeous
I was regularly sent to the corner shop to buy 10 Guards or 10 Cadets for my mum. I remember one mothers day my sis and I bought my mum 10 Guards and a blue chiffon scarf.

I remember plenty of parties not complete with this stuff
"Ice Breaker" chocolate bar with the blue minty bits.
And of course "Mint Cracknel" chocolate bar - the one with pieces of green minty sugar like shards of glass that cut your mouth to ribbons.
Delicious.

I'm sorry I haven't called in here before. I loved this thread on C4 and it's great to see it still going.
Does anyone remember going to a Dance rather than a disco?
Live Bands playing real instruments and the lads were lined up against one wall while us girlies lined up on the other waiting for someone to make the walk of danger across the floor.
