I loved Beryl's lot ................I'd forgotten all about that. There was another programme called Mrs Thursday about a cleaning lady who won the pools (or came into a lot of money somehow) that was good.

Which, I believe, was with the Mike Samms Singers.

God, it was beyond depressing.  A few bars of the opening theme and I was off like a shot.

I remember Jimmy Clitheroe - saw him in panto!

Jean Metcalfe and Cliff Michelmore hosted TWFF and were married in real life.

That confused the hell out of me, her having a different surname

Mr Pastry.  Who's owning up to remembering him?

He was ancient even when I was a kid.

Charlie Drake - The Worker?

Funny I was only thinking of him the other day in the light of the JS revelations. He married a much younger girl. The thing is - when my mum was a teenager she saw him perform in a local club and he was having some banter with her. When the club turned out he came after my mum and her friend - they ran away and he chased them up the road

I really must tell my mum and dad about this.

They also used to love ITMA.  Is that being aired, do you know, Baz?

My Auntie Ei has the Goon Show to thank for her getting married.

My grumpy grandfather refused to allow the radio on after 9pm.

This particular show was a 'special' and over-ran.  The radio got turned off.

Eileen was mutinous

Anyway, she met her boyfriend the next day and they were married within the month.  He was nicknamed Uncle Goon forever after

Oooh did he?  Near Ronnie Corbett and the golf course?

The above is now the sum total of my Charlie Drake info.  Apart from loathing Henry McGee his sidekick.  It was Henry McGee, wasn't it?  He ended up as one of Benny Hill's early ensemble cast.

Yes. it was called SUN-IN

I remember that!  One of my sisters had the most beautiful 'yellow' hair after using it

BTW Renton, lemon juice does the same thing, the downside being it makes you very attractive to bugs.
