ANOTHER good shop... GONE.

Damn recession!

Unfortunately, Gamestation are also owned by the Game group so their shops will be shut too if a buyer cannot be found.

I'm a gamer, but in recent years have turned to online shopping for games because it's generally cheaper every time and as Rawky said, you get games before release day if they're despatched fast enough.

Game's prices were just too high for me......but I'm very sad to see the company fail like this. IMO we need a physical shop on the high street as an outlet for gaming only. It's not just online shopping that's killed Game, it's the supermarkets as well.

I agree.  The internet IS cheaper and we have got shitloads of games off ebay for a tenner, when they are 25 quid new.  I haven't bought anything NEW and FULL PRICE from the game OR the gamestation for about 5 years.  Second hand and in sales yes... but new and full price...  no.

It's sad and it's a shame, but when a game costs over 25 to 30 quid and you can get it online for 30 to 40% cheaper, then the shops have no hope.

The last full price game I bought from GAME was Zelda for the Wii which I'd pre-ordered only to find that if I'd ordered it online offa GAME then I'd have saved a fiver

Then I found that if I'd picked up the special edition that I'd ordered [with the controller], then I wouldn't have had to nip up to ASDA to buy a controller so I could actually play the game!!

GAME shut down two proper gamer shops in my town; I won't miss them!

I just feel it's a shame there aren't any dedicated stores just for gaming anymore. Feel sorry for the staff too. I know of one person who lost his job today.

GAME used some pretty dirty tactics to shut down independent retailers Kat so I wouldn't feel too sorry for them.

Gutted for the for who work for them though

Yeah I have heard a few things along those lines, the management at the top are the ones that have put them in this mess. Greedy.

You are so right! I've been in a couple of different branches and they all do seem to have a wiff about em!

Yep, different branches, different cities they ALL smelled the same... was it piped in?

It was to attract their biggest market  I shouldn't generalise, cuz I am a gamer, but I am one of those rare ones that washes.
