The housemates have reacted with shock at Big Brother's announcement that nominations will take place today.

Most of the group spent a leisurely morning eating breakfast and getting ready for the day. The relaxed atmosphere was shattered at around 11.20am this morning, when Big Brother announced that nominations would begin "shortly". The announcement added: "Vanessa can nominate and be nominated."

A shocked Nikki announced: "I can't believe it! That's not fair!

"It's meant to be the Ultimate Big Brother! It's meant to be up to the public, not up to us!"

Clearly shaken by the announcement, she told Vanessa: "I'm so upset! I don't want to do this. And the fact that you can be up!" Vanessa brushed off Nikki's concern, saying: "But that's only fair, that's totally fair."

In the bedroom, Victor told Brian: "I think I'm literally just going to go, 'Eeny, meeny, miny, mo'." Brian replied: "I'm not going to do that, you know why, I think that everyone who wants to be here should have the chance, so I need to have a logical reason in my head to [nominate them]."

"I don't know what I'm doing! I've got nothing!" Victor announced. Brian asked: "What would they do if we all refused and they put us all up?"

Victor said: "Would they do that?" The Big Brother 2 winner replied: "They'd have to. If you refuse to nominate then you put yourself up."

"How about that, Michelle, are you up for that?" Victor shouted across the room as Michelle entered the closet. She responded with a non-committal: "I don't know."

In the living room, Ulrika told Vanessa and Nick: "I feel nervous now. There's always something in here."

Vanessa commented: "I suppose it would be very easy for people to nominate me, because I've come in so late." Ulrika told her: "We're not allowed to have that conversation." Vanessa said: "Oh, are we not? Okay, forget that then."
