But surely Griffin's hero started of as a Nationalist and then decided on trying his own version of a united Europe.

Griffin has plenty of friends around Europe, (they go camping together and everything!) and they were all just waiting for this chance! Glance

and by doing so they are playing directly into his hands, they realy are stupid thinking that shouting him down is going to do anything but gain him publicity and encourage people to want to hear why a group of imbeciles are trying to block his free speech

forgive me BBBS but arent you the stupid one..I mean you voted for him Confused

i did not vote for him, i did vote for his party but not in support of it, other than their anti eu stance i find them vile but i did want to use my vote to make the biggest point i could.

i certainly dont want to listen to what he has to say but all these nutters trying to stop him are as the op points out making him a martyr and thats no good for anyone.

But BBBS do you think your vote really made any sort of protest?

i do not need to justify my actions in voting to anyone thank you, i do see how mindless the auto responses of the left have been though, a mini forum version of the thugs in manchester on sunday or today outside westminster, all showing their true anti democratic colours

IF the protesters hadve just kept it down to chanting and booing to drown out what he was saying, then HE would still have been enjoying HIS right to free speech (just a pity no one could hear him,)
or, IS there a right to be HEARD? (a sort of "shut up and listen to me right?)
AND the protesters wouldve been enjoying their right of free speech as well,
everyones a winner, he get his rights the protesters get theres,
until such time that the nazis were in power of course Nod

i dont claim to know everything about them since i'm not a supporter, in fact i seem to know more about the equally evil left wing, but i do know what democracy is and i do understand the concept of freedom of speech and i do know it was your lot breaking the law not nick the nazi.

and THAT is how they work, they USE the laws they hide behind them like a shield,
demanding the protection and the rights that THEY would deny others,
and because of that people get a "tad" miffed at them and throw a few eggy weggies,

they sow the wind, they had BETTER be prepared to reap the wirlwind Nod

I think it depends on what Griffin was actually doing. If he was giving a press conference out in the open then I suppose it's a public space. However, giving a press conference is different to making a public speech.

I don't know if a breach of the peace could have been used by the police to arrest the protestors, as Bigdaddyostrich suggests, but that power of arrest in itself implies what we can expect. It's not a criminal offence to breach the peace but the power of arrest implies that people are entitled to expect peace and order to be maintained. The protestors, it seems to me, have the right to make their own protest but not the right to actively disrupt his right to go about his lawful business.

The last I heard was that Abu Hamza was to be extradited, but whatever, he has been serving seven years for soliciting murder and stirring up racial hatred.
Gordon Brown is nothing like Mugabe since I believe that he will be allowing the victorious candidates to take their seats.
If mein herren Hitler, Roehm, Himmler, Goering et al had merely falsified their expenses then I would say to Griffin, "Go forth and spread your exciting ideas!" However they were very naughty and as such their follower Griffin should not be allowed the Oxygen of publicity. Zyklon B would be more appropriate IMHYCO.

well if you'd believe what some on here have said it wouldnt be far off, however it wasnt addressed at you since you accepted that no matter how much you liked what they did their actions were illegal and antidemocratic, the person it was addressed at however still seems to think that just because it was the bnp then its perfectly aright to attempt to overurn democracy just because he doesnt agree with the result.

I guess he made a complaint then. Most politicans treat that sort of thing as an occupational hazard but he'll treat it as a publicity opportunity.

Fair dos though. He was assaulted as far as I can see. The demonstrators ought to treat it as justice if they're charged.

Speaking of demonstrators, I wonder what happened to those plainly stupid protestors who were protesting against airport expansion. Wasn't that tosser Michael O'Leary going to sue the airport authorities who were going to sue the protestors in turn?

I laughed when I heard that. I bet the protestors weren't expecting that to happen. When they were interviewed, they were all excited in a student sort of way about their direct action. I could imagine them paling at the news. Laugh

Truthfully I think that it will just play into the hands of the BNP.
There is a big difference between the ritual harrassment of NF papersellers on a Sunday morning in East London (which I did a lot during the Eighties/Nineties) and not allowing a democratically elected representative of the people to speak.
You may not like them, you may disagree with their policies, you may be angry that they were elected but elected they were and as such the people who elected them (for whatever reason) have the right to expect that their choice be afforded the same freedom to speak as representatives of other parties

They'll have plenty of company in the European parliament tbh although it sticks in my craw that he'll have a 6 figure allowance to represent such odious views.

Having said that - yes they are elected - but those who do not agree with their views also have the right to make their opinions known.

And let's not forget that Hitler and Mugabe (to name just two)originally came to power through democratic means. In Hitler's case on the back of economic collapse in Germany. I'm not saying this individual stands to become anywhere near as powerful as those two...
