I thought he was quite good, but agree with Kaffy, that the sob story about his bipolar mum was unnecessary and came across as being a bit attention seeking and tacky.. What exactly does it have to do with his singing?

Sorry, but we all have a sob story or two to tell, but we don't use them to advance our careers or gain sympathy from folk.  Smacks of serious attention-seeking.

That said, I do wonder if people entering are asked if they have a sob story.  I remember my old neighbour a few years back, attempting to enter 'Ground Force' to get her garden done, and the email they sent back, was basically asking her why they think they deserve it, and when they said the woman is disabled (chronic illness,) they said they need to know all the details of her disability, how it affects her everyday life,if it makes her depressed, and all sorts of guff.  In short, they seemed to want a 'sob story;' so it may be that the contestants are 'required' to provide one.  I know tis sounds harsh, but I actually find the sob stories a bit pathetic and annoying and as I said, totally unnecessary.

Have to say, although not everyone will agree.. I found that girl Samantha Brookes, the best last night (the one who said she never entered before because she thought they wanted 'pretty' girls.)  I thought she was outstanding and it was one of the best auditions I had ever seen.
