It's always has been a non event for me. I tend to stay in and stick a two hour film on around 11pm. That gets me over all the crazy midnight kerfuffles and nonsense.
I get emotional at the Bells.
On the strike of midnight I can hear the church bells and a neighbour stands outside playing the bagpipes.
I will be glad to see this year out and welcome the New Year in .

Bells!!
I don't mind it. Few games with the kids, party food and a few drinks. They like the excitement of it but then at 12.01 they have to go to bed
I spend every NYE at home with my family, with a clean house and money in my purse/bank. My mum always says start the new year as you plan to go on so I never go out to the bar or club like most of my friends. They call me boring but I don't care
Bells!!
I didn't even realise he'd changed it!
Naughty Pirate!
The anti climax of the year now.
Last good one was when UB40 played at Edinbourg and we got a got bit live on telly.
Best one I had was in Loch Rannoch.
I become very morose
Usually at work - watching all those people happily laughing in Trafalgar Square.
And knowing for some of them it will be their last year.
... and for the few - they won;t survive the following week
Oh God
Sod them.
Look after number one. Two bottles of Glencoe and Bob's the daughter you never realised you had.
I can't help it - i become very down.
Looking at their cheery faces and just knowing for someone, they will be tomorrow's tradgedy
It's the moment that counts in life
Cheer up Saint and get that glass half full

We always used to be at home with the kids up when they were little - when they were a bit older we'd go out for a meal with friends (up from London) who had kids a similar age.
We kind of kept to it even when the kids went out themselves and then had a party with all their mates and our mates on their return.
Last couple of years been to my sis - think this year we'll be at home with friends/ neighbours and family. Not sure about my girlie - it's a very emotional time of year for her - she split with a long term partner on New Years Day three years ago.
The older I get - the more of a non event it becomes really!
Loved it as kid - in the days when people still 'first footed' and the neighbours would drop in after the bells. Loved it when I was late teens and out partying... started going off it when I was married and my then hubby would drink himself comatose, now I'm on my own again I don't mind it, but it's no big deal - I stay in, on my own, watch Jools by the light of the Chrimbo tree, toast myself at midnight, exchange a few texts with mates, and go to bed. I quite the like 'fresh start' feel of a new year and always have lots of good intentions... most of which never make the end of the holidays, but hey ho....
I've always preferred it to Christmas .. always saw the bells in at my mum and dad's ( apart from my "I was a teenage runaway" year! ) - not figured what to do this year yet, but I'm thinking I might head for the coast or something, just a complete change .
I can take it or leave it, now I'm older
I don't mind it but it makes me laugh when people on FB say I can't wait for next year to change my life etc the clock is just changing nothing is stopping you from changing today. Other than that i'm the same as Kaffy up there ^
I'm getting old, i'm getting ready for bed and daughter has just gone out
SPROUTY It's b'days soon
I love it It's mine and Mr C's night; sorted all the rellies - fed and watered everyone over Crimble, so we do we want. I've got a corker of a party to attend this year and I'm all excited!

That said, I'd happily skulk around at home - just the 2 of us - and watch Jools on the telly.
I don't do snogging of strangers either and I couldn't pitch up anywhere where I didn't know anyone either, so no pub/bar for a first visit on NYE

I was surprised to see my 30th
I think you need a rest
Not that fussed tbh. We always see the new yr in with a bottle of bubbly but I'm over the: " going out - getting smashed" phase
NYE is my birthday.
That said, sometimes we spend it with friends, and I'll stay up 'til midnight. If we are at home, though...all bets are off.
it depends who you're with really.
I used to go out clubbing on NYE and absolutely LOATHED it. I much prefer going over a friends house party - food, drinks, games and jolly company.

Yes, it's always a massive anti-climax. Expensive to get in to places (which are normally free), rip off taxi's, a few balloons at midnight.
Quiet night at home for me.
What/where is RHB?
We're going to a family party, went out to get the kids new outfits for it today.
I went out on the lash once in town a few years ago and it was RAMMED! Saying that the family parties are usually the quite 'packed in' too but fun with the kids there too plus usually get a lift back.
So NYE is yay for me
For about the last 5 years we have gone to our favourite Chinese restaurant for a meal taking the boy with us! This year it will be different, we're taking the grand boy too.
I like any excuse to celebrate!
when I was younger I loved the madness of a bar or club, when the kids were little we used to get together with other families, for the last few years we have stayed at home with a nice meal, champagne and Jools.
this year we are going to friends' for a five course (gawd help me!) dinner.
I had some madcap New Years Eves when I was younger. Now I just like watching telly and texting Happy New Years Eve to peeps. Thats about as raucous as it gets
