I very much doubt she'll return to Italy.
I very much doubt she'll return to Italy.
The Americans have already said they wont return her Katty
she's got a book coming out very soon apparently

Is there no extradition agreement between Italy and America?
A black guy is jailed for 16 years the two white suspects "get off" I know what I think..

I would think there probably is Yogi but the Americans consider that when her case was dismissed in Italy because of the flawed DNA evidence that that was the end of it.

The whole case was a fiasco.
I doubt the family of Meredith will get justice.

True, unfortunately.
to all the above Cinds.
Hmmm, good point.
I think it will be another one of those cases, like Pistorious, that we never really get to the bottom of....
The US is notoriously loath to extradite its citizens anywhere.
Will be interesting to see what happens regarding her book launch in a couple of weeks. It's tempting to suggest that the date was chosen for maximum publicity, but then again they may have just assumed everything would have been done and dusted by then. By all accounts even the Italians were surprised by the decision to overturn her (and Sollecito's) acquittal...
I always wonder about these people who get acquitted for murder and then go on to write a book. Wouldn't you just want to put it all behind you and try to move on?
I remember saying after OJ was acquitted, he could go on to write a book called 'Actually the Glove did Fit'

Well, I suppose there are a number of factors in this case.
Firstly, Knox and her family are going to have a lot of legal bills. Apart from the retrial, her conviction for falsely implicating Patrick Lumumba was upheld (something largely forgotten in all the recent hype), and she and her parents are still charged with slandering the Italian police.
Then it was widely publicized that Knox wants to be a writer (although the rumour is that "her" memoirs have had to be heavily ghost-written/edited...)
And then I suppose there's a desire for "closure". Remember that the assumption was that by the time her book's released (end of April - not a "couple of weeks" as I thought earlier), she'd have been cleared.
Of course, closure for the Kercher family is still a long way off...
This is why I really hope she's not a cold blooded murderer. I don't want to have a thing for a cold blooded murderer.

It is inherently driven into the American psyche that they can do no wrong, pretty much from birth. They cannot and will not accept any criticism of themselves by foreigner or country and will persist with being mystified as to why they are the most disliked nation on the earth! It's not for nothing that nearly all 'baddies' in US movies are foreigners - the vast majority of them being British
Amanda Knox throughout her trial was portrayed in the US press as this poor, picked on, beautiful, blonde white American girl and this was enough for them to consider her innocent. I understand her parents going to such lengths but it doesn't stop me being sickened by their behaviour.
I have no notion of whether she's guilty of being an accessory, but I still think she knows more than she's letting on and despite double jeopardy attaching, she won't run the risk of telling us what she does know.
I for one find it strange that the only person accountable for this murder, is the black guy and the Italian evidence collection and actions of the police means there will never be a resolution to this case for Meredith's family. If Meredith had been Italian and not British and interracial would this have been the case?
I read today that someone in Knox's home town of Seattle was asked about how their community feels vigorously supporting Amanda and how they feel about Meredith and her family - his response was no one cares and I think that just about sums up the American attitude.
Meredith the person is relegated to being a murdered person who should be ignored, and her family are an annoyance
OT
There was a piece i watched on American TV once - it was running a report about the Queen's visit.
The commentator said the Queen was meeting state senator somebody and that,
"The Senator did not bow ... as (and I quote) Americans bow to no one"
