That was one of the early complaints we made I think. You have to remember to go and check the top of the screen every now and then, which is a pain. It needs some form of more obvious alert like many forums do with PMs. A popup the next time you refresh any page on that particular forum

How come when I hit the reply box the comment box comes up.....sometimes I have the 'bar' above the box with the smilies in it.......and sometimes it is not there????????.......like now *rolly eyes smilie*
That happens to me sometimes.. after a pause it usually corrects itself but from time to time it doesn't. I then just reload the page and try again
