Kaytee, which version of Firefox are you using? Mine is v 3.5.7 but v 3.6 is now available. When I post comments, the comment is posted OK. However if I try to subsequently edit it, the comment is apparently rejected and I just get the cogs. However I find that if I close the cogs screen (click on little cross on the top right corner of the cog screen), then close the edit reply screen again by clicking the little cross,  I return to the ordinary forum screen apparently showing my unchanged comment. But if I then refresh the screen (click on blue circular arrow near the beginning of the Firefox row of icons) my edited comment is shown.

I have just edited this posting and followed the above method to get this sentence appearing. Hope this is of help.

I don't know whether this is going to help at all, but have you tried exploring from the Firefox - Tools - Error Console option. What I suggest is before you try any further postings on Livecloud, you go to the Post Reply screen, then you go to this option. Select Clear when in the All tab to clear the listed error messages so you have a clear screen, then come out of the Error Console. Now try posting a comment on Livecloud, then return to the Error Console to see what has appeared.

On my Error Console, a whole list of Warning messages appear every time any page on Livecloud is accessed. I am guessing that you will also have these warning messages but presumably you will also have actual Error messages which I don't get. I suggest you post these Error messages (from the Error tab) in a posting to the Livecloud gurus in case this shows what is going on. By the way if you select any of these messages you get a further screen which shows a whole load of coding which means nothing to me but might to the gurus.

Hope this helps but it may just confuse matters.

Sorry Lori.....I just saw your post. The problem seems to be solely with the forum part of the LC site, everywhere else works like clockwork. There is some slowness generally, that can usually be sorted out if I refresh, but trying to post in the larger threads, the Darnies for example, is virtually impossible.  I noticed that another FM...Maggie P is experiencing much the same thing. I don't know why this is happening, because most other FMs don't seem to be having this problem, which has lasted for quite some time now. Sorry to be such a nuisance, but it tends to spoil my enjoyment of the forum part of an otherwise  good site.x
Kaytee
Hi, Kaytee:

You aren't a nuisance!
So, I just posted in the Darnies thread to see if it was slow, and it was just a touch slow, but it's almost 2400 pages, so that's not unexpected.  However, you should STILL be able to post.
So, you have trouble in the big forum threads, and you've used 3 different browsers, and you are on a PC, huh?  You said you have a varying experience with those 3:  can you rank them, worst to best?  Also, do you know what Maggie P is using for a browser?
Lori
Hi Lorix
The worst is IE then Chrome and the best is FF...for everything on the PC.
I managed to get into the darnies to ask about Marge, but it took 10 mins....and a lot of button bashing(lol)...after that it just wouldn't let me in again. The rest of LC has been very slow, but I have been able to post. I'll try and contact Maggie and ask her what she's using and get back to youx
Kaytee
Kaytee: I think we should try to eliminate some suspects.

1. Your computer: Have you tried posting on another computer? Try logging into a friend's computer, and see if you have the same experience.

2. Your connection: Try posting on another connection. E.g. go someplace else and try posting. I'm not sure what you have for a service, but try not to pick something slower than your connection (like dialup. )
Lori
No one else has mentioned this so it must be just me. Last night my time I couldn't read any of the threads, I clicked on every thread and they all had a very long error code. Earlier this afternoon I could read the threads so assumed there was a problem with the site malfunctioning last night. I came back here about 20 mins ago (it's evening now) and all the threads were showing the last time of posting as being this morning - even though I'd earlier read the afternoon ones.

Then I noticed I wasn't logged in and wondered if that made a difference for whatever unknown or new reason so signed in and now can see that all the threads are up to date timewise. I've never had this particular problem before, just wondered if you were aware of it or someone else has mentioned it to you, seems strange if it's just my pc all of a sudden.

Sorry, maybe I didn't explain properly what I meant.
When you visit this site, whether you are logged in or not, you will always see the most up to date posts. The only difference in what you see will be the displayed time.
If you are logged in you will see your own time zone timing on all the posts, but if you are not logged in the time displayed on the very same posts will be the relative time zone of Seattle, which is eight hours behind GMT.

Edit: I posted this post at 00:38 GMT (4th March), but if I were not logged in this very same post would be displaying the time as 4:38pm (3rd March - Seattle time)

The problem with editing is still with us though....endlessly whirring cogs, but if you refresh you'll see your edit has actually posted.

I'm also still getting the problem with thpage not loading and therefore no working reply box until I refresh the page and get it to load fully.

Xochi, I'll go and see what I can find out. I'mm just in from work and haven't explored much yet.

Xochi, I think the difference between New Topic and Quick New Topic is the Quick New Topic misses out the various formatting, images, graemlins and other icons, which is fine if you just want to create a plain text topic. Don't ask me why this new option is available for New Topics but not for Post Reply because I don't know.

If you decide you do want to use the icons then you can then click Continue Using Detailed Posting Form which will take you to the normal New Topics form but we are lead to believe retains the text that you have created to dateon the Quick New Topics form.
El Loro
No trouble getting there and back, then went into one of the forums to get a look at what these two options gave me.

It's pretty much as El Loro says:-

QUICK NEW TOPIC opens a box that looks pretty much like a reply box, but it has a Small box for you to give your topic a title and not much else. This topic will be posted in the forum you are in when you pressed the 'QUICK NEW TOPIC' button.

NEW TOPIC however has a lot more options, you can post the topic to another forum you can add pics, tags, attachments, make it into a polletc.,

The QUICK option does have a button you can press that it opens it up into the expanded form without you having to re-enter all the info.

I've made a reply to a query raised by OneTwo on a different thread which may be of general interest to others as follows:

Is there a way to get back to the front page of the Lounge from the fred I'm in without scrolling up please does anyone know. I used to do that before didn't I ?

The simplest way is as follows. Go to the front page of the Lounge (or whichever page you want). Then from your browser (not Livecloud) menu select Bookmarks (I'm using Firefox) and then Bookmark This Page. If you are using IE, the equivalent is Favorites - Add to Favorites.

So in future, when you want to go straight to the Lounge, select it from the Bookmarks menu. Note that you need to be logged onto Livecloud first if you want to see the correct time settings and be able to make postings. I personally don't bother to log off when quitting Livecloud so I don't need to log on.

I have created a new topic in the Tips and Tricks forum where I have repeated this so that it doesn't get lost.

Has anyone worked out how to send a buddy request?

Reference: Baz
Xoch.... only thing I have seen is a *Befriend* button on the top right hand side of FM's sites.... Haven't plucked up courage to press it... but that may be it.....

Reference: Xochi
I did! Good sleuthing Baz!
If you click on their gingerbread man you will get an option to add (or delete) that person as a buddy.

Is there a chance we could have the Edit function fixed so as to not have to wait until we think it's gone through and then click Refresh?

Looks like it's suddenly working properly now. Woohoo!

I guess that's what they were up to when it chucked me off and locked me out.

Then again, maybe not totally, 'cos it didn't work here, but the edit worked properly in the Bar of the Sinking Ship.

Hurrah I can post can anyone help me please last night the front page was showing all the wrong post times, and when I was trying to post the post reply box was not coming up I deleted my cookies and it was okay,I tried to get on here this morning when I did the front page is showing all the wrong times again, when I tried to post it told me I had to sign in when I did the cogs were turning forever I gave up,do we have to sign in every time we come on here,it used to have a box we could tick saying remember me it is not there now, also I clicked on ticker and it is telling me I have to sign in again I have an apple mac and use safari is anyone else having the same problems  thank you
Marguerita
Hi marge, as Lori says you have to be signed in to do various things, like post and view your ticker. I cannot say what originally logged you out, but certainly clearing all your cookies would have done that anyway and you will have to sign in again after clearing them.
As for the time display....when you are not signed in the time-display defaults to Seattle time and it is only when you are signed in that your own time zone displays.

Not being able to get a reply box up or posting is to do with the page not loading properly, even though it may look OK. This is a long running problem and all we can do in the short term is refresh the page and try again (and hope that someone eventually manages to figure out what's causing it and what to do to sort it! )
Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing
Marge, I have the 'remember me' box ticked. If I just close my window and computer then I will still be signed on when I nevt access the site. If I 'Sign-out' then I will have to 'Sign-in' next time I access the site, but the e-mail address and password boxes are already filled in, so all I need to do is click the 'SIGN IN' button. It would only be if I deselected the 'remember me' box, or cleared my cookies, that I would expect to have to TYPE IN the information myself. Are you having to type in your e-mail and password, or are they already there and you just click 'SIGN IN'?
Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing
Lori, next time you get a chance can you look at the forums menu on the left hand side of the page as seen if you use Safari 4.0.5 on Mac OS X Version 10.4.11. I've just installed an upgrade to the browser and now the menu is all garbled with overlaying texts. For example... the purple folders for UK Lounge and Games is overlaid with the yellow square for USTV Fans. Rather amusingly, however, is how this odd overlay now reads

Hugh Fearnley-
Whittingstall at River
Desperate Housewives
Cottage!!!

It does mean I can't go and frolic in the USTV Fans, Community Management, and other pages beneath those (I think they usually show as being at the bottom of the menu list?).
