I've left Maggie a message on her FB page......hope she gets back to me or posts in here herself...thanksxxxxxxx
Kaytee: I think we should try to eliminate some suspects.
1. Your computer: Have you tried posting on another computer? Try logging into a friend's computer, and see if you have the same experience.
2. Your connection: Try posting on another connection. E.g. go someplace else and try posting. I'm not sure what you have for a service, but try not to pick something slower than your connection (like dialup.

Maggie has replied Lori and she says she's using IE and Chrome and both are very slow.
I shall use my daughter's next time I visit and she has a different ISP to me......so if it works there then it's something my end.
Thanks a lot Lori, I'll try that and see how I get on

Lori... I just tried to reply to a proper blog tonight (today for you!) It was Caspian's '1b: Mystery'... I got a message 'You are not permitted to post comments on this personal site'. Is this the same as a private profile message? In which case, why does it appear on the blogs site? Not a moan, just confused!

Xochi you can tailor the blogs so only your buddies can comment on them...though why you'd have them open to read but not for poople on comment on is beyond me...that'll be why you couldn't comment.
What she said.

No one else has mentioned this so it must be just me. Last night my time I couldn't read any of the threads, I clicked on every thread and they all had a very long error code. Earlier this afternoon I could read the threads so assumed there was a problem with the site malfunctioning last night. I came back here about 20 mins ago (it's evening now) and all the threads were showing the last time of posting as being this morning - even though I'd earlier read the afternoon ones.
Then I noticed I wasn't logged in and wondered if that made a difference for whatever unknown or new reason so signed in and now can see that all the threads are up to date timewise. I've never had this particular problem before, just wondered if you were aware of it or someone else has mentioned it to you, seems strange if it's just my pc all of a sudden.

But with people not poople!
Yellow Rose, I don't know what may have caused the error code issue, but as far as the time thing goes. This place defaults to Seattle time, and it's only when you are logged in that your personal settings (i.e. time zone) prevail.

Thanks for the info Fluffy but I'm pretty sure I've been able to read threads before in real time without being logged in, which is why I'd wondered if the rules have changed and we now have to be logged in to see the latest posts, even though that didn't apply this afternoon, very confusing lol
Sorry, maybe I didn't explain properly what I meant.
When you visit this site, whether you are logged in or not, you will always see the most up to date posts. The only difference in what you see will be the displayed time.
If you are logged in you will see your own time zone timing on all the posts, but if you are not logged in the time displayed on the very same posts will be the relative time zone of Seattle, which is eight hours behind GMT.
Edit: I posted this post at 00:38 GMT (4th March), but if I were not logged in this very same post would be displaying the time as 4:38pm (3rd March - Seattle time)

Hi Fluffy, you probably know more about the workings of this site than me. I've just never noticed before that the times of the latest posts relate to if we're logged in or not. I've just assumed that what's posted is the latest addition regardless of the time zones just as I experience in other Forums where there are different time zones to where I live.
Yellow Rose, I can confirm that Fluffy's postings are exactly what I have found. Is it possible that you had recently ckeared your browser cache including cookies? If you had then when you revisited this forum it would default as if you were not logged in so would show the Seattle times. Once you logged in then it would show your set times.
I just want to say that I like the new site layout.
It is much neater and clearer, plus it seems to be posting much faster.... at least for me..

Sorry but I dont like the new layout it is awful it better the way it was before everything is now pushed to the right side we dont need all of that at the left side of the page ..do we

I could not edit
just wanted to say half of that stuff on the laft hand side does not even get used..please change it back to how it was..

Liking the new layout and it's working very well for me now. The culling of the Darnies thread made it much better for me to post (thanks Darnies) and the entire forum is a lot faster...thanks for your help and time, but things are really 100% better than they were

Marge, I think the forum's been getting performance tweeks throughout the day. The editing should work now.
