Ok, this might sound like a daft question but did any of you actually enjoy being pregnant? It's just that I'm hating it and feel like I should be enjoying it more. I don't really know that many people with kids so my only frame of reference are a couple of close friends, both of whom really loved pregnancy.
I don't feel well, partly due to the actual effects of pregnancy and partly due to it's effect on my ME. I look awful, my hair and skin have gone really dry, although I look better now than I did a month ago. Hubby kept pointing out how much hairier my legs were, or spotty my skin was or how bad my hair looked. I snapped when he said to me "Should you be that fat yet? Other women's bumps don't look like that." Disappointed Suffice to say, the comments have now stopped. I also hate the kicking and sitting on my bladder etc, I'm just really squeamish. My hubby thinks I'm being a real moaner about being pregnant and thinks that other women cope with it better than I'm doing. I can't talk to my mum because she's not interested and like I say, I only have a couple of mates who don't live very close to talk to about it. So far the only thing I'm enjoying is that people have become friendlier and smilier. Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to having the baby, and I'm not walking around like a total miserablist, I'm just not enjoying the pregnancy bit. Frowner

Jeezus!

My day has been:

Baby woke up, daddy made bottle, I fed her bottle, baby slept for ages cos of jabs, I watched crap on tv & posted on here, ate stuff, she woke up, we played and smiled, she did smelly poo and several wees, fed her, she got a bit hot & unsettled so cuddled, slept and she's still asleep. I did more tv, net and food cos its pissing it down out.

Am a terrible mother today Eeker Not normally, and she doesn't normally sleep so long it's cos of all the 'excitement' yesterday poor lamb.

I could never be arsed making curtains even without Raggybaby Eeker

Well done you Thumbs Up

Welcome Temps! 2 & 1/2 weeks, aw I miss them days already! 9 weeks on Monday she is & like everyone's always said the 'babyness' does go very quickly, she's 'talking' in babbles and grinning and interested in everything & it's wonderful, but some of my favourite times are still when she falls asleep on me like a tiny little baby...I miss her already being a newborn! Daft.

She's 10lb 8oz now Eeker

Sounds crazy...but I hate when I tell people her weight and they go 'little fatty' or whatever, makes me mad because 1) she's not! 2) as a girl she's gonna be hit with loads of weight issues from other women & I wanna protect her from that, especially cos I know my issues stem from my Mam. Feel stupid for worrying about that when she can't even understand, but I don't want that kind of 'language' used so that she doesn't get negative body confidence like I always had.

Mostly yes i did. I had 3 miscarriages before this pregnancy so i was not excited until after my 12 weeks scan. then i really enjoyed the 2nd trimester, when i was feeling super healthy. i saw it as an adventure and checked my growing bump in the mirror every day. the last couple of weeks i found tough as it was so uncomfortable and the toilet stops all night long were making me miserable. and the fact that my house was full of brick dust and i was desperate for the decorating to STOP!

Well that's good. i don't think people realised how pregnant i was towards the end because i was really petite. i remember going on this tour of the council houses with my mum (long story) about a week before i popped, and there weren't enough seats, and no one offered me their seat so i stood for ages. that really surprised me.

So everyone feels differently. Every pregnancy is different. Some people are lucky and sail through - I did, but you know what there is nothing like childbirth for instant relief of the bladder issue and it's nice being off work (and that's from someone who likes their job)... It will come to an end, so try and focus on the positives, like you will be able to buy new clothes soon.

in fact the one thing i wished i had got was some more new tops, with easy access for breast feeding. go on, treat yourself. buy online if you don't feel like trudging round the shops. x

when you are pregnant you get told all sorts of things about what to get, how much to buy, stock up on nappies when they are on special offer etc etc. now one of the things they tell you to get is cotton wool balls.
well, i have to admit to getting a couple of big bags of cotton wall balls. and i STILL have a couple of bags of cotton wool balls because i use wipes for bottoms, and a sponge for cleaning faces, and a soft towel for drying off.
But i have found a perfect use for them this afternoon....

Stick them in your ears when baby is yelling their head off!! you can still hear right enough, but it really takes the edge off the pearcing noises!

not long. once whimper is a cry i pick him up.
I was like that .... what we did was I put in ear plugs and My O/H would wake me when tiny cryed. More often than not i would wake before him anyway. Babies turn over just like we do and we found that the wee one was just turning over realy and i was yanking her out of bed and feeding her and she of course loved the comfort so it was all good for her. Earplugs problem solved. They do not cut out all sound its a bit like the cotton you mentioned earlier just more comfy. Get noise ex from boots they are pink built shaped things and they got me sleep I love them. Thumbs Up

Hi Jo, I'm dreading going back to work in November Frowner If I didn't have to I wouldn't, so I understand where you're coming from.

Tree's right Belle, it's so hard to leave them when they seem to be starting to cry but we have found since baby's been in her own room that you sometimes hear a cry then she settles herself, I've actually seen her do it loads it's quite funny she starts a cry but is still asleep then her face goes into a cute little smile again! I was picking her up too soon, my OH is a bit firmer than me and has done well leaving her and she's quite good at settling herself. Think she slept from about 10 til about 7 am so not too bad, she's wakeful in the evening lately I think it's because the nights are so light!

/ramble

Thanks for your advice re mothers and in-laws Tree, you're right it's the fiersome protective instinct coming out - I'll be much more outspoken when it comes to baby than I was when things were said to me.

Hi Belle. I was just lucky with him he settled himself into a routine really quickley. Drank his bottles really easily from day 1 an always settled easily. My daughter on the other hand was the total opposite. Couldn't get her to take much much milk and she woke every 4 hours till she was 3 months old and has always woken at least once in the night even now at 2 1/2.

I like my job it's just hard fitting everything in. I'm gone by 8am and home at 5:30pm so it feels like I don't spend much time with them now. I've asked to do a 4 day week now though so fingers crossed they'll let me.

YOur tinys are almost the same age as mine !!! I had to read your post again LOL What does she do when she wakes up?

I know i noticed yours were similar in age. She wakes up for a bottle of milk. I've tried everything to get her off the bottles but she kicks up such a fuss I give in.

it is so hard not to give in at stoopid oclock in the morning. you just want to get some sleep and any way you can will do!!
Belle
we had a great night last night!! my little one slept through from 11.30pm until 4am. this is a blinking miracle. i tihnk it is the first time i have slept for over 4 hours for months!!!
i am taking him to the clinic in a short while to check up on his development - 6-8 week check i think its called. he is 7 weeks old today!!!! Thumbs Up
Belle
and now we had a bit of a crappy day.

went to have his 6-8week development check today with the health visitor. I made a sandwich for lunch and just at the same time he dumped a days worth of poo in his nappy so i had to sort him out and change his outfit...(so i had to take my lunch in a plastic bag because i hadn't managed to eat it). well i put him in the car and he started crying and i got there 5 minutes late.
then the health visitor started to poke and prod, and minibel started to scream rather loudly. so she decided he was in pain and was doing all the pain reactions etc, and said "I want him to see a doctor". so she went off and rang the doctors and got him an appointment. by the time she got back he was asleep in my arms. so she decided to do all the checks etc, but still thought i should take him to the doctor. so i took him to the doctor who said that I am the mother and i would know if there was something wrong and he concluded that he was a "well baby" and that there didn't seem to be anything wrong with him.
grrrrr.
another stressful day over.
Belle
Aw Belle, I know exactly what you mean. When we had her jabs last week it was her 6-8 wk check too, and that set her up crying before the jabs because the bloody HV woman was faffing on with her and fussing and when she was crying the woman's going 'ooh dear' and making a fuss (just like my MIL does, grr) she's a baby ffs she cries!

Had a stressy day too, baby didn't nap for long all day and she'd woken up at 4am last night so I was shattered and didn't have the energy for her being so lively, she wanted fed and held aaaaall day. Feeling a bit down atm, bit isolated but also am retreating into myself cos I feel all crappy...not good.

Hope he keeps up the sleeping Belle, Raggybaby's been a bit crap at the sleeping lately been going really late and not sleeping in late either. I napped earlier so don't feel that sleepy, will force myself to bed soon!

don't drink the tea. it is vile, but i recommend tablets from holland and barrat. they don't bring on labour, but they strengthen the uterus to speed up delivery. my labour was only 5 and a half hours from start to finish.
my theory for an easy labour... chill out and go with the flow!

and congratulations on your bump!!!
Belle
I quite liked the tea! But you're sposed to drink a shitload of it so capsules prolly easier, not sure it had any effect but my official labour was 1hour 50mins so it's worth a try!
Exciting times, what's your due date? Smiler I was 12 days overdue, had to be induced!
Raggy♥Doll
minibel arrived 5 days early. thank gawd - i had had enough of pressure on my bladder by then!

last night he went to sleep at 11.30pm and woke up at 2.30 and was still awake at 4.30am.

today we went out in the car to carsington reservoir and had a sausage cob and a walk in the pram, and we had lots of smiles and leg kicking!

hope singing seedling is ok now after the accident.
Belle
Ooch that wasn't much sleep last night Belle! So cute when they start smiling and playing, Raggybaby's more into playing now I just ordered some lamaze toys off amazon for her. Have spent faaaaar too much this month.

Ooh my only tip is to pack two bags- a little one thats dead easy to carry for delivery suite and a bigger one with overnight things that your birth partner can go get after the birth. I packed one wheely suitcase but it was far too heavy and we had a swift getaway in a wheelchair to the delivery suite and poor OH had to carry it and my coat and his own coat and my shoes I'd taken off all mega quick and it was a bit much, you just need your nightie and baby clothes and nappies for the delivery - well I did cos it was quick. I assumed I'd be aaaages and had all snacks and books and ipod...Laugh that can be fetched later if needed, if you're stopping in that bed overnight, I assumed you stopped in the same bed you're first shown to but I went to a different one after.

Erm actually and wear something cool, I was BOILING! And if you're renting a tens machine practise it at home first, thank God I had a techy hubby on hand Laugh

Ooh and if you go to the loo when you're in labour don't lock the door Laugh I did, needed a poo Ninja coulda had the baby down the lavvy on my own Eeker
Raggy♥Doll
thanks Raggy i've got the 2 bags and have OH instructions were to find other stuff for baby

i know i'm quite nervous as well now so you had a quick labour then was it your first what did you have?
Shizzlex
Yeah my first, a little girl Smiler I had a sweep on the Thursday which got things moving so when they induced me things moved pretty swiftly. Do you know what method of induction they will use, I had the gel pessary a triple dose thing that they can pull out if it's too much..'cept they didn't Ninja

I was strangely calm on the day, it's weird after all that waiting and wondering when it might happen to know that you are definitely not coming home without your baby!
