I've noticed a few other FMs are new mums or expecting, I've not been on C4 for a fair while so thought I'd introduce myself...more than I've the bollocks to do in RL!

I had my little girl 8 weeks ago, she's my first and currently giving me a dead arm so I am, like a lot of others, typing one-handed!

:need a snoozy baby smiley:

Sleepy << me, constantly!

Wow, that's excellent Big Grin

Raggybaby was 6lb 12 at birth, last time she was weighed 9lb but that's about 3 or 4 weeks ago now. We'll see tomorrow!

She can't wee over her head but when she does it on the mat it soaks the entire outfit...might be finished with that exciting little stage though she was doing it quite regularly Roll Eyes

she did poo in me face Eeker from across the room too! She'd shat on the floor from the cot top changer & I was wiping it up when she did it again, more impressively still. Was 5am & with poo on me cheek I considered getting the camera Glance

oh thats crap. in april 09 birthclub there are some right old hands. some on their 4th or 5th baby and some 1st timers in their 40s. it's been generally really good. just a few whingey moans but definitely helpful. in fact we had a load of folk join the april club from the march and may boards because we had a reputation for being dead nice when they were all falling out with each other! That's hormonal pregnant women for you! x Laugh

ok so is it easy to put on and can you lean over without her falling out, and would it fit a short petite girl like me???

It's so easy to put on, it's just a tube of fabric you put over your head and arm like a sash, it's folded in half so the baby slots inside it, you can lean over but I always hold onto her then! Ha ha, sometimes it looks like she's too squished but she's fine and you can put them in a more sitting up position or even on your back when they get bigger, cos there's a padded bit that their legs go next to so it doesn't rub. There are 3 sizes, there's a size guide on the official peanut shell site (will have to google) and they come in 3 sizes so you may need the small. Best of all there are all pretty patterns Laugh

Don't blame you for never ebaying, alot of it's shite!

wavey Spoke to hubby about it again last night. He still likes the Quinny but I'm going to have another look at MacLaren and Graco travel systems. Hubby's not keen on Graco but I think he'd go for MacLaren because it sounds like a racing car. Roll Eyes

Its all very personal ... I would advise you by the cheapest pram you can. and get tiny into a QUINNY ZAPP when they are 6 months.... now I didn't use the car seat with it ... but you can buy a car seat that sits on the zapp frame. the baby needs to lie flat at the start... so the car seat tho good is not ideal to have them in all the time. Just accept you are probably going to have to buy a few prams over the next few years. we have three. Plico pramette (sp) from mamas and papas we got the car seat with that and use it on our second baby. It cost £600 al together (Never buy a parisol it is useless and a waste of money. we did Blush) a quinny zapp, fantastic best £120 quid ever. and now we have mamas and papas double buggie thats huge and I hate but it does the job. Prams are a git.

How are you feeling btw & how long to go?

It went fine and I've been fine. I was back in the pool last week. I am just glad it is over and am looking forward to being well again. The report to my Doc said multiple fibroids were found and my womb was the size of a 16 week pregnancy. No wonder Ive not been well. Razzer

We've seen a Quinny Buzz package in Babies R Us for £500 reduced from £650 but that includes two buggy seats - (one for when they're a bit bigger), a car seat and a carrycot. We were going to go for a Mamas & Papas as we have an outlet just up the road from us and everything's about half the price, but we've been hearing some pretty scary things about the chassis collapsing recently when out and about and babies ending up on the floor. Eeker
I'm not due until the end of August so we've got a while to go before we have to make our minds up but the Quinny offer seems pretty good and we don't want to miss out. Oh, I dunno, I didn't expect it to be so difficult!

I'm being pretty practical really about costs. MIL is paying for a cot bed (although I don't really want anything from her) but I don't want to buy nursery furniture yet as we're planning on moving soon and I'd rather buy stuff for the new house. My mum has said she'll give us something toward the pram so it won't be costing us that much I suppose, although again, I'm conscious that she'll be disapproving of us putting money towards the Quinny rather than her just paying for something cheaper outright. I haven't bought a thing for the midget yet. Hmmm, I may have just talked myself back into the Quinny. Laugh

As a pram is often a group of things, you can say to her that she bought the pram and you guys just bought all the other stuff you need to go with it... car seat muff etc ... that might work. or just tell her she bought it all "what a bargain" you will say "it was the last one in that colour and they wanted rid ... oh the credit ... cruch excess stock" Ninja

It was easier for me MIL was 500 miles away and I was estraged from my own mother at the time. That ment we had to do everything ourselves, no back up or baby sitters but in other ways it ment we did what we wanted. I only had one momment in mother care with MIL saying I was buying toooo many baby grows. Big Grin I was, WHO CARES!!! I was having a ball. In saying that she didn't object when I then added a pack of I love Grandma ones Wink

Group Hug all round ladies. Nod It's easy to forget all the horrible bits that you have to put up with like jabs, crying, guilt and pelvic floor trouble. Disappointed Still, I imagine it's all worth it in the grand scheme of things. Hug

I'll try mumsnet Raggy, thanks for the tip btw. Thumbs Up

Gawd knows why I am lurking in the bump n baby thread... mine aren't babies anymore!

But just wanted to say to belle really... my son (my second of 2 kids), was a screamer. He seemed to never stop crying, and it was soooo loud, and I don't know how he managed it, the stamina involved... but he would cry and cry and cry. (and his little tongue would stick out of his open mouth and wobble as he warbled at the end of each scream).

I thank god that he was my second... had he been my first (and therefore coupled with being a new mum and all the uncertainties that can go with that) I think I would have been even more stressed.

I remember my mum coming round, and me escaping up to my loo, locking the door, slumping to the floor and sobbing into a towel (so my mum couldn't hear).

I just wanted to say.... hang on in there... it'll get better. If you can, try controlled crying (i.e. letting him cry), but if your baby has the volume in him that my boy had... then I know how hard that is.

And, for what its worth... my first (my daughter), was a fab baby... never cried, slept through, all sunshine and smiles. But was a toddler from hell.

My boy... screaming baby... placid content toddler!

Right, I'll stop lurking in here like a sad old bird! Big Grin

Ah Ditty Hug your own child's crying is such a heart wrencher! I can't stand it when she's doing that little red face, stabby tongue scream thing, thankfully it's not often (*is now dreading toddlerdom!*)

My family live in the NE & I am in the NW & I really miss having them around now Frowner In laws just aren't the same, as much as me Mam pees me off at times I know I could trust her & she'd just swoop in & not wait for polite invitations every bleedin time!

morning ladies, (and thanks for the support too).

i am considering whether to go to a mum and baby club. i am rubbish at meeting new people tho so i don;t know...

well i am doing everything i can to prevent crying today. this includes cuddling at every whimper. he is now in his room in the cot (never really slept in there before so we'll see). been in there for 25 mins and i can hear grunting. i don;t tihnk it'll be long, but it has given me chance to sort the washing. i am going to make a cup of tea whilst i have the chance. i will post later and tell you how quiet we have been. (btw i tried infocol, but gave up after he was screaming so much and i got in a tiz and dropped it on the floor and got the goo all down my jeans. need to purchase some more. i will take him for a walk up to the chemist later on me thinks x
