Xochi, I think this must be something specific to your machine.
I DO have a less-than-elegant solution for you. If you go up to the righthand corner where your profile is, there's a dropdown, and at the bottom, just before "Sign Out" it says "Posting Tips". If you click on that, you'll see a list of all the smilies, and the code you can use. For instance, if you use : wavey : , you get this:

*I* know you are not computer illiterate, no matter WHAT you say. And it's a pretty low-budget solution, I admit. I just can't recreate the error, so I have no way to fix it for you. I'm glad you still have your sense of humour, anyhoo....
The Smiley box.
On my Android tablet the smiley box is 6 smileys wide and 8 smileys deep and all the smileys are in it as we have slightly less than 48 smileys but moe than 42, so there are smileys on all 8 lines. On the pc though. the smiley box is only 5 wide, but is still only 8 deep, the actual smileys are still trying to be 6 wide so the 6th one from the 'first line is now on the second line, by itself. What HAD been the second line originally is now on the third line - still only 5 though, so its 6th one is now on the fourth line, again by itself and so on.
Tried t get a screenshot but it didn't work

these 8 lines are in the box the other smileys are underneat and follow the same pattern. So there are another 8 lines of smileys UNDERNEATH the box.

I see that Lori, but it was much easier to glance up if you had an alert, whereas now we have to click on the side panel to find out if we have any alerts.
If you are on a desktop, you shouldn't have to click any side panel...unless you have your browser shrunk down horizontally? Is that what's happening? At full browser-window size, the number appears in the top right. It's bright red.
It's just a number though Lori, you still have to put your cursor there to open the drop down box to find out if the number is Alerts, Dialogs or both.

Are you getting the ones underneath the box Xochi? On my pc I can still click on them and they print ok. the LAUGH smiley and those others you mentioned are in this lower lot.

El Loro talked about moving the reply box, but it doesn't move - it stays firmly fixed beneath all the posts (both on my pc and my tablet), no matter how many posts there are on the page. Also the only way to post WITHOUT quoting a poster is either to go to your reply box at bottom of the page or to go to the top of the page and click the 'Add Reply' button which then whizzes you down to your reply box at the bottom of the page. The 'Take Action' on each post only allows you to 'Reply with quote' there is no other reply option.

That's a screenshot of what I get when I open the smiley box, I can still click on the lower ones even though they are not in the 'official' box and the appropriate smiley will insert itself into the reply box
