I'm happy to pay for the features Lori, I need the edit, especially on Saturday nights

oh but think how funny the forum will be without it!

Kaffy...I would be banned every other week... my sweary words would be missing the ****

OH... how do you think they'd feel about allowing sweary words for a thirty dollar fee?

Kaffs

I don't mind paying. Its fair  seeing as theres a small membership so it won't pay for itself through ads like DS.

However I'm not satisfied about the security of the upgrade membership / pay page. Theres a padlock sign by the web address, which usually indicates its safe but I still don't feel safe giving my credit card details. What if someone hacked the site? I'd much rather pay through Paypal or that google pay thing which have better security and safeguards?

edited to say edit facilty still works

I'm not in on all the nitty gritty, but I think it means that you will be able to edit at any time and it will never say you have editted.

Also..   it says "credit card"..     I don't have (am not allowed, as decreed by MrDitty, access to) a credit card...    I only have a debit card.

I'm not against this...    as I said, I would have to wait til I had it, and would wait until I needed to upgrade (i.e. found myself unable to do something I wanted to do)...    we have had a free ride for a long time now...   and I do get that Ted & Co are running a business, not a charity

Ditty although it says credit card I am almost certain you can use your debit card

that said I would have  preferred  Paypal as an alternative option after only just getting the fraudulent use of my Barclays account sorted

I can see and fully understand why they are doing it but would like to think if we were buying into it . it could also go secure in that peeps have to register to read the forum and activity facility ... if we want to lurk we can turn our gingerbread man off but I do sometimes think it would be nice that only registered members were reading ...

I assumed it meant it was going back to how it used to be and you had a very limited time to edit typos after a post then it was uneditable.

I get that... but then, that would automatically rule out any new blood, would it not,  should there ever be that possibility

OK, I'm trying to keep up with you guys....

The things that I think need addressing:

1. Security (for credit card details): We use a 3rd party vendor who is properly vetted by the authorities here in the US. I will also say that in all the years I've been here (almost 13), we've never had an issue with credit card security. That doesn't mean it can't happen, of course, but we do everything possible to prevent it, including our selection of 3rd party processor.

2. What happens to your dialogs? I believe they'd still be there. The permission is actually to create new dialogs. If someone who has the permission sends you a dialog, you can still respond. You just can't start one. I'm going to test this out in a minute, and if I'm wrong, I'll be back to edit this.

3. Dang. I forgot what the 3rd thing was...
