That is part of my problem with the last Doctor, I think he had too many clunky scripts. I just hope they can steer clear of Victorian London for a couple of series.

that's always been my theory - even if they'd picked somone I don't like, I'd still have watched.  I've got complete faith in them - they haven't let me down yet with their casting (apart from Catherine Tate)

I would agree with some of what Yogi has said, but I would not give it just one episode, that's not enough to judge a character as they need time to develop and find their feet in the role. Give it one series, by the end you should see where he is going with it and if you feel he has understood and delivered on the role.

I'm personally hoping for good things from PC, I just hope he has the material to work with. My other hope is that he is less manic as a Doctor, the over energised predecessor had me a bit fatigued. I would like to see him take a few queues from the best Doctor's Baker and Pertwee.

That's exactly how I see it EC. He is a very versatile actor so should bring all sorts of shades of dark and light to the character.

Have you not seen it Kaffy?!  I've failed in my sisterly duties to you then!  Watch whatever series you can. It is political satire to the max. Armando Iannucci is the creative genius behind his character as Malcolm Tucker.

Just noticed something:

Peter Capaldi recently appeared in "World War Z" as a doctor with the World Health Organization. Up until now, it hadn't fully occurred to me that his character isn't named, and is just listed in the credits as "W.H.O. Doctor".
