boring. I just saw him on later with Jools. I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to seeing Paul McCartney on it or not. He looks so old, I hate when my heroes go all crinkley and senile

I never liked him when he wasn't old and crinkley

He looked like an old man.
God knows I love him to bits but time he perhaps hung up his guitar.

Many artists show very bad judgment when deciding on retirement.
As a fan I would rather be left with fond memories not embarrassing ones.

So true. Elvis Costello gave a good account of himself though. It was a good song too. I always loved his songs but hated his vocal. He seems to have finally clocked that painfully affected Americanised vocals are not 'good'
I have always loved him but as said above sometimes it is best to bow out gracefully as for Paul Mc Cartney drearie me

Falling to sleep in his rocking chair live on stage doesn't count

Seriously though, he can still entertain a crowd from what I saw. Maybe it was all just hype cos the crowd were so into it, I dunno. But it kept me grinning (only for a little while, natch)

Didn't that win some sort of best album ever award or something? Bizarre. Band on the Run and NOT Sergeant Pepper? lol. Nowt stranger than folk eh?
tbh it wouldn't have won an award with me ... but at 7 am on a dark and rainy journey into work it demanded a bit of in-car karaoke.
I was miles better than that Linda

Is that your local music police? The ones where you have to communicate via sign language? Reference:

It's astonishing really, I can't think of a single Beatles album that wasn't better Reference:

Come on Karms, Neil Diamond? lol. I feel like I've stepped into a particularly bad episode of the Twilight Zone. 'The Night Sane People Liked Neil Diamond'. Actually it sounds quite scary, I'm not watching that one Reference:

I saw Sir Paul in the millenium stadium in the summer and he was absolutely BRILLIANT. Obviously his voice has deteriorated somewhat, but for his age, he has still got it. Also the John Lennon and George Harrison tributes he did were fantastic.
I cant wait to watch him on Jools on friday night. An absolute Living Legend.
Yep, Band on the run won a Q award for best classic album and it is a classic album (so i dont see your problem really). Sgt Pepper has already won this award.

83??! Instead of glowsticks do the audience have knitting needles?

I saw him when he was 78
(That's a yes! )

I saw this on a show the other day. Unfortunately the only video I can find is someone recording the TV, but it's still worth a watch.
Paul is doing his bit for the economy.
I don't mind Paul McCartney in small doses. He's brilliant live. However IMHYCO there are only a couple of decent tracks on the Band on the Run gramophone record.
I don't like Andy Williams' political views,
though to be fair he is getting on a bit,
and is probably confused.
Neil Diamond? A terrible addition to popular culture and one I have had to suffer most of my life. One has to avoid Radio 2 everytime he brings out a new product.
