Hi guys, anyone got a NCFE qualification? Do/did they help in getting the job you want?

I'm thinking of training to become a teaching assistant, hopefully at my kids school.

I've been looking at courses and a friend found this one which is very reasonably priced http://www.wowcher.co.uk/deals...ge-level-3/deal.html

The qualification at the end is an NCFE accredited Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate.

I spoke to the online sales staff and asked if it was the equivalent of an NVQ lvl 3 and got the response 'not the equivalent but it's comparable'

I also spoke to my kids head and he had some good tips, offered me a placement and said it was an ok qualification being lvl3 but i get the feeling he didn't hear me correctly.

That deal runs out soon and i don't want to miss it if its good or waste my money if it's not.

Erm...yeah.... anyway

I've never heard of the qualification tbh Jen.... but that doesn't mean anything, as it's unlikely that I would in my job. We only employ one teaching assistant as we don't have a need for many at our school. But, it's level 3 and accredited, ...and actually, the work experience placement that goes alongside it will make it worthwhile all on it's own!

Good luck with it! I started off as a teaching assistant before training to be a teacher. I have very fond memories of the two years I spent doing it

Some days I'd like to go back

From what i can gather (here anyway) most TA spots require an NVQ level 3 or above. Those course are more expensive and require time in college every week as well as a 12hr a week placement, that's why this one is appealing to me.
