E's were bloody ace. Everything was beautiful (even ugly people and West End tourists), trees would dance, hamburgers would fly.....
I do remember stumbling out of the Fish Bar up the West End one Sunday afternoon after a night of raving and we went into Maccy D's on Tottenham Court Road. I started having a go at the Ronald McDonald life-sized plastic figure cos he kept giving me funny looks. I also booked a childrens party for myself there for my 19th birthday but had to call and cancel when I came down and realised what I'd done

What are you shocked about? This is me we're talking about here
I know I've also mentioned on here my determination to repeatedly try to climb on the lions in Trafalgar Square but cos I'm short I used to keep getting stuck and the old bill got pissed off cos they had to keep helping me down and telling me off. When I'd be on one I used to believe I could get the lion to take me home instead of having to jump on the nightbus.

oh god that is so true!
Was fab for a while though... from the usual drunken brawls that happened every week in clubs... to everyone loved up!

oh, I can understand that sentiment... it had to be worth a try
Yep they were good days, Dits! God I've just remembered the time me and a couple of mates were on the nightbus home and I insisted the bus was flying and told the whole top deck about it
my dad put me off drugs from an early age, the last person i wanted to end up like was me dad.
LSD, smack etc, never tried any of them because the idea of it just scared me. I don't want hallucinations that are out of my control.
Used to do glue when I was a kid but gave up when the hallucinations became too nightmarish. Looking back 14 to 16 is a blank for me and I wouldn't advice anyone to try it Tried weed a few times but didn't think it was very good and tried speed once but was stunned by how pointless it was (though my clock was throwing out a banging tune the next afternoon when I was trying to sleep)
Haha I've just remembered another time when I decided I was a centipede and stood on the steps of the bus that take you upstairs and pounded my feet up and down 100 times
The amount of times I got kicked off the nightbus was unreal

there is no way I could have coped with being on a nightbus in that state. Thankfully I would always be in a car getting a lift... to wherever the after party was... and I would be able to slide down the walls there! Reference:Karma_

LolI can remember double deckers

Bloody hell mate! I'm glad you managed to climb out of that particular nightmare. I've heard so many horror stories about glue.
"that was in the days when you used to smoke a banana, you thought you was getting ripped from it!" etc! And I see your and I raise you usw.
I'm actually a little shocked by some of your answers.......maybe that's just the snob in me
Of course one is old enough to remember when one could buy codeine linctus.

I never liked them, tbh. Much preferred to speed my head off and get trippy on skunk at the same time.

Did one allow it to settle to the bottom of the bottle?
I'm just ever so glad I'm too old to have missed out on ectasy..........I just know I would have loved that
No! One necked a good half of it! The origin of the term "buzz" one fancies.

The good thing about hallucinogenics Prom is that if they take you to a bad place soon enough, they will scare you off them very quickly!I used to get bloody dreams off glue that were like living out the worst horror films and it soon made me too scared to carry on
And I've never had good experiences with drugs since.

That sounds really horrible and it's largely the reason I was too scared to touch LSD, Acid, Herion etc but I'm made up for you that you got early warning signals and looked the other way since
I believe that it was the noted philosopher John Kay who stated, "you know I smoked a lot of grass and I popped a lot of pills, but I never touched nothing that my spirit couldn't kill!"
I remember thinking that I didn't fancy popping any pills. I'm also surprised that anyone would consider Cocaine, crack, or heroin.

Cocaine's just like speed, well it was for me anyway. It just keeps you awake. I don't understand how so many high profile celebrities become addicted to it unless they want to stay awake all the time 'just cos'. Confusing.
I observed lots in the early seventies n onwards! I liked people who smoked, had a good laugh, and were creative (at the time, even if it turned out to be rather silly later) i found alternative imbibers to be either worrying, threatening, or a mixture of the two.
Yet since those days I've held down a steady job and subsequently retired. I feel very old and a tad unhip.

Yet you can take solace that you are still, in essence, a bit of a hippy.
A bit of a baldy napper hippy who dresses as someone from the countryside and cycles, rambles, and does crosswords! sleep well!

I've heard wearing nicotine patches does the same thing. Main reason why I haven't tried it either!
I have had codeine and diazepam only a couple of times in life when urgent.
I hate to take painkillers as a rule unless necessary.
As for illegal drugs, and alcohol, i only have alcohol in small quantities, (weekend, in small quantities)and no drugs ever, due to once having bad asthma attack after weed and then inhaler.... NEVER AGAIN

..and loads of methane

Haven't read all the posts, which has probably deviated from the subject by now from past experience here lol. No I've never taken them but know those who have and do of whatever category. Talking to them they all seem to have some things in common, they have low self esteem and drugs boost their confidence and attitude, a painful past experience that drugs help them forget, a wish to see the world other than it is in their eyes so want to experience a different reality that they prefer.

I have never taken drugs, I have never smoked tobacco either, I do like wine though so I am not a complete saint.
My older brother got caught up in the drugs scene in the sixties and ended up in a psychiatric hospital being dried out.
For that reason alone drugs have never appealed to me and luckily this has affected both of my daughters as well. They have always been honest with me and one did say that she was in a room where they were smoking pot once but the smell made her cough so she left, .
I don't judge people that do drugs - except of course they are supporting crime and other horrors on innocent people etc.... but heigh ho.

I am pretty much like you issy: I have never taken them and never would, and TBH I dont know anyone who does or has done. But I'm not flawless or perfect, as I have always drank alcohol. (Not to excess but just socially.) I must say that am actually a little shocked at the amount of people on here who have took drugs though: maybe I have led a sheltered life LOL.
I am not sure if its as yellow rose said, that people that take drugs have low self esteem, (although it probably applies in some cases,) Its probably more likely that they do it because everyone around them is doing it (like at college or uni) and they don't want to appear 'square' or naff by saying no. I think if someone was homeschooled, or left school at 16 and worked for the family business and didnt mix much with people their age, they are much less likely to take them.
Just wondered, out of the people that took them. why did you take them? You don't have to answer, I am just wondering.

I have smoked weed a couple of times and I used to bake it into flapjacks for my brother, until my mom went to help him with his cleaning while he was on holiday and thought she would have a morning snack with her coffee. She had no idea what was happening and phoned me thinking she was dying. I felt really bad.
Now I don't even drink or smoke.

Karma, Ditty..I know exactly what you are talking about...I haven't always been and angel ya know!!
Why? Because it was lovely!
I don't like the idea that everything is lumped together. If I had my way anyone dealing in, or possessing cocaine would have been executed. I'm rather sure that it is to blame for most of the corporate things that have gone tits up, so to speak.

I'm not surprised! I saw you posting Insanity by Oceanic & Playing with Knives by Bizarre Inc on Facebook & thought "aye aye"
