I was in a discussion about Homosexuality and I was amazed and dismayed how many people thought it was purely a "lifestyle choice ".

People are what they are. Sorry should have said I voted nature.
I cant expand on it without writing a blummin essay
It'a all wrapped up in the question of what is normal
Normal just means the norm IE the majority or largest cluster in a spectrum, the largest cluster might not even be the majority.
In order to have a norm you have to have people who don't fit it.
So it's nature

definitely nature not nurture.
i don't think many people wake up one day and decide to be gay. they just are gay. i am not gay, but i didn't make a concious decision to be heterosexual.

Nature, you are what you are.
Nature.
Definitely 100% nature.
You do not just decide to be gay, or otherwise, for that matter ..... I firmly believe, it's just something you were born to be

It's all in your genetic make-up so has to be nature
What scares me is that if a "gay gene" was proven and able to be isolated that some people might abort their babies.
I mean mainly the "Religious" people that think being gay is an abomination.
I find that terrifying.

But shouldn't these same people also not judge or condemn a person for being gay. Surely that's God's job. They should be loved for who they are not what they are

I agree 100% with what you say.
A lot of "religious" people I have spoken to personally think it is a choice to be gay and they should not give in to temptation...
or even if it proven to be "genetic" they will still discriminate and say it is a "flaw".
Hopefully if it is proven they will still remember they are "pro choice ".
(I am being a tad sarcastic...here)...
I hope it is just my experience of talking to these people today and not a wide held view.
It really made me sad today.
Sorry if I am not making much sense.

Whether it is genetic or not ( I personnally believe it is within our genetic make up) I thought God gave us a freedom of choice. As long as these parents give that same gift to their children, then surely it's then down to the individual to choose the so-called right or wrong path. I thought we were supposed to be forgiven for ALL sins if we ask for it. And yes I think you are making perfect sense
Most definitely Nature

It's not that simple though,It isnt an either or situation IMO It isnt as simple as your either heterosexual or homosexual, some people are bisexual, some asexual,so I doubt it would be easy to Isolate a gene or even a group of genes and say for certain that those genes would result in a specific sexual orientation.
See I told you I would have to write an essay to expand on my views on this subject
Definitely Nature
In my line of work I deal with transsexuals from time to time and people are remarkably ignorant about them as well
It really annoys me
Relgion PAH!!!!!

Nurture for sure!
I said nurture .... It was a misstake sorry im tired. I think you are born gay and can chose to act on it or not. that is your choice. And where concenting adults are concered no one has the right to tell anyone who they can or cant have sex with.
I am not sure if it is always nature some people are bisexual I know a guy who was married and has five children and is now gay living with his partner he told me he never felt gay whilst growing up or when he got married so that threw me a bit so to be honest ,I cant really answer the poll because I honestly dont know the answer.
I should have added I have lots of gay friends and they have told me they always felt gay only the one above has said different which is why it threw me.
