No surprises that I'm on Ed's side. Myleene's been lauded by the Tory press for being self serving and greedy. Seems Twitter disagrees.

He didn't deal with it especially well, but he's in a lose lose situation. Where if he goes for it, he's perceived as being aggressive against a well liked celeb but if he guards his tongue, he's derided as being weak.
What's quite stark is how the rich man's media reported it as a moral victory for those who oppose the mansion tax, while in reality, most agree with Ed.
Myleene Klass's arguements were straight out the Tory book of emotive b***shit.
She claimed that ÂĢ2 million would buy little more than a garage in London (rubbish, even by London's property prices) and that these ÂĢ2 million properties were owned by poor little old dears who'd lived in those properties all their lives.
It's a bit like arguing that if you buy your mobile phone at "Diamond Encrusted Mobiles r Us" you are exactly the same as any other mobile phone buyer.
She's just an opportunist and Ed unfortunately doesn't have the social guiles to stand up to her.
Even though I lean more towards Ed's position, I thought that Klass more than held her own with him (which is worrying) and she did make the point that some people are asset rich , but cash-poor. The mansion tax is a good idea, but needs some tweaking.

True but there's 'asset rich: cash poor', then there's people with piles worth ÂĢ2 million pleading poverty. The average salary (before tax and living costs) is around ÂĢ25k. That's 1/80th of a ÂĢ2 million property.
I do think in this country we're supposed to have a bleeding heart for the very affluent while having a heart of stone for the poor, who really need it.
Someone with such a property can sell up, go around the world, give their children a fat inheritance buy a ÂĢ1 million pad and still have change.
Is this too small for Myleene's mythical poor as a church mouse 'granny'?
Doesn't look much like a garage to me.

She's a charlatan.

He's onto a hiding whatever he does, I reckon, I don't doubt that he could wipe the floor with her if he worked on it, but she is a 'sweetheart' and cutesy,so he wouldn't come across well and then be ridiculed for taking on a lightweight,if he does nothing, then he's running scared of a girl.
That is Ed's problem and I can see no solution to it,he's become a figure of fun and a target of ridicule, very few actually listen to what he says,he tries very hard but he has no gravitas.
i kinda see what she's getting at
people bought houses cheap (few thousand)
now theyre worth a couple of million cos of where they are
but then there are the others
who are rubbing fat sweaty greedy hands hoping not to pay too much
swings & roundabouts
Jackson b,
He does struggle, but Blair had the nickname "Bambi" once. Seems bizarre that the warmonger in general and darling of the Republican party was considered such a lightweight that Tories nicknamed him 'Bambi'.

thing is, that's hundreds of thousands of pounds of unearned extra wealth. If you rented, you'd just pay your rent and you'd have no extra wealth.
These people could sell up and rent. Then they'd be in exactly the same position as renters - only, they'd have ÂĢ2+ million in their pockets!
Bear in mind that an average salary of ÂĢ25k over, 55 years, works out at just ÂĢ1,375,000. Before tax and living expenses.

I don't know what Twitter you read, but Ms Klass is the butt of twitter jokes. Unless I'm reading this wrong.
There was also a Justgiving page set up to raise funds for the struggling Myleene.
