Its like the best xmas ever..as soon as you go into labour its like waves of period pains, if you watch the monitor it will peak like a hill the top is what you feel the most then it comes down again and you have a rest..watch the monitor it really helps and the first time you set eye's on your baby is the most strangest feeling, its so indiscibable seeing someone you've made and carried and you see yourself in them, its like a miracle....

i was told off for screaming and told to concentrate on using the energy to push instead...it worked i pushed him out in less than 3 mins...though i gave myself piles too

I was petrified, when my waters started to rupture I didn't tell anyone. I had changed my mind and I didn't want a baby anymore, thought if I ignored it I would just go away. Obviously that wasnt going to work! I was so lucky as I couldn't feel any labour pain, had five contractions (the first I thought I needed a pooo). I found it more a weird sensation rather than a painful one, especially the one where I pushed him right down and then he went right back up, only made that mistake once.

But I will I had more pethadine than Michael Jackson and combined with the gas & air, I didn't know where or who I was.
The only thing I was aware of was how much bloody pain I was in. I don't remember it, but apparently at one stage I grabbed the nearest medical person and begged them to kill me and save the baby

The 7ft Amazonian Warrior (the one I meant to kick) told me I hadn't contracted enough, I begged for my epidural, they wheeled me into theatre with my sons head half hanging out.
Note to future mum's, don't attack midwifes. It was all my own fault.
I have had 4 babies, was a midwife for 10 years. Believe me, ask for drugs.
Well I am one of those people who stub their toe and have tears streaming down their faces and I gave birth naturally and I was 36 hours in labour! And babs was 8lbs 7 so it can;t be that bad.
That said I did scream the place down and repeatedly shout 'HELP ME' thus scaring the 17 year old in the next room

childbirth was the most traumatic thing i have ever experienced and nearly 13 yrs on it still horrifies me to remember it

It's a natural progression. I didn't think about it before hand and both my births were very different. It builds up so gradually that you almost don't realise it's at it's peak when it is!
Personally I found the "afterwards" worse ... bleeding for weeks, going for a poo the first time after, hormones all settling down again ... milk coming in etc.
