Boasting about the size of the afterbirth and squirting breastmilk at your mates for a joke
Not that I have a bad opinion on men

Something along those lines, yes.

I was a birth partner to my mate when she had her son and I found it more scary than when I gave birth to my two.
QOTHT if you are still lurking here, I am the worlds biggest coward with a remarkably low pain threshold and I had my two naturally with no painkillers.
you can get through it hun, don't panic
Oh and Rawky - we will be round to insert a basketball in a certain orifice just so you can share the experience
Yes, I am still lurking. Don't worry, I'm still in denial about the whole birth thing. I'm still hoping that it's all a big fib and a lovely big stork will just bring the baby all wrapped up in a nice white blanket tied up in a bow like it used to do in cartoons. I'm right, aren't I?
Its like the best xmas ever..as soon as you go into labour its like waves of period pains, if you watch the monitor it will peak like a hill the top is what you feel the most then it comes down again and you have a rest..watch the monitor it really helps and the first time you set eye's on your baby is the most strangest feeling, its so indiscibable seeing someone you've made and carried and you see yourself in them, its like a miracle....

I was terrified going in to have my first baby because of the horror stories....How I see it now is if it weren't worth it would we go back for more eh?
hello lovely Lee Hope you and Eamon are well
It's true though lee, you do forget the pain afterwards. I remember lying on the delivery table after my second and saying I wanted another one.
Soon got that stupid idea out of my head

tbh thats the best way to be...naive all the way
i mean that, EVERY woman has a different experience, everytime they give birth. you only remember the horror stories really.
Well, the first time I carped myself cos I didn't know what was going to happen, the second time, I carped myself cos I did know.

Ditto
I was petrified, when my waters started to rupture I didn't tell anyone. I had changed my mind and I didn't want a baby anymore, thought if I ignored it I would just go away. Obviously that wasnt going to work! I was so lucky as I couldn't feel any labour pain, had five contractions (the first I thought I needed a pooo). I found it more a weird sensation rather than a painful one, especially the one where I pushed him right down and then he went right back up, only made that mistake once.
I don't think I should say anything
But I will I had more pethadine than Michael Jackson and combined with the gas & air, I didn't know where or who I was.
The only thing I was aware of was how much bloody pain I was in. I don't remember it, but apparently at one stage I grabbed the nearest medical person and begged them to kill me and save the baby
And I've never forgotten that pain
(QOTHT, I have a narrow pelvis so don't panic re. the above)
Number 2 came out of the sunroof

I have a narrow pelvis, it also didn't help when I kicked the midwife across the room, so didn't get my epidural which I'd pre booked, didn't get my gas & air, didn't get any sympathy from the nurses, unfortunately I kicked the nice midwife when I was aiming for the horrible one. (True by the way). I ended up trying to push my second son back up my thingy.

I won't even ask how you did that
I didn't get an epidural either. When the anaesthetist asked if I had any back problems, my ever helpful husband piped up, "Oh yes, she gets a lot of backache"
It's a wonder he's still alive

The 7ft Amazonian Warrior (the one I meant to kick) told me I hadn't contracted enough, I begged for my epidural, they wheeled me into theatre with my sons head half hanging out. Note to future mum's, don't attack midwifes. It was all my own fault.
I have had 4 babies, was a midwife for 10 years. Believe me, ask for drugs.
Well I am one of those people who stub their toe and have tears streaming down their faces and I gave birth naturally and I was 36 hours in labour! And babs was 8lbs 7 so it can;t be that bad.
That said I did scream the place down and repeatedly shout 'HELP ME' thus scaring the 17 year old in the next room
I will be sticking to one

Childbirth is a natural process, females of all species give birth. Why is it that human females make such a drama out of it.
Now getting a paper cut (which I have just done), thats sore.
Leaves to get a bandage and some sympathy.

It's a natural progression. I didn't think about it before hand and both my births were very different. It builds up so gradually that you almost don't realise it's at it's peak when it is!
Personally I found the "afterwards" worse ... bleeding for weeks, going for a poo the first time after , hormones all settling down again ... milk coming in etc.
