Lal iam very sorry that you are hurt and upset, Hug but as this is a forum people are going to post whatever they want and wherever they want, we have no control over that. I dont suppose that anyone is trying to be spiteful or hurtful in anyway shape or form, you my lovely are probably a very deep thinker, so please dont let any post or thread get you down or upset you.

Yes but your family and friends will not appreciate it would they? How will his family member feel if they read some of the rubbish that has been posted in the guise of jokes? Disappointed

I have my opinions on people's deaths, I have cried for Farrah and Michael I don't know if the tears were for them or my dear sister who I lost a year ago this week but they were my tears and I had them for a reason!!...as does everyone. All I ask is for us all to respect each other's opinions and if yours are that far away from them to maybe not post them...I don't mean to sound harsh, just the way I feel...

Thanks for reading...X X X

Thank you for posting this.

I was shocked to hear of MJ's death when I got up this morning, and shed a few tears, knowing that it hadn't really sunk in properly.

When I got to work, I was horrified to find that the people around me were talking about the event with a crassness and callousness that I found quite chilling. I just kept my feelings to myself, but inwardly thinking 'how would you feel if it were one of your loved ones?'

I don't mind a bit of humour on the subject of death, but not when it's malicious.

I tell you what I do find distasteful...photos of him in the body bag being wheeled to the ambulance....news crew helicopters following the chopper bringing him to the coroners office...the recordings of the 911 call being played all over the news...seems like Jermaine's request for privacy has fallen on the usual deaf ears Mad

Now I am aware that this thread is about how the forum are dealing with it as opposed to the outside world...but I just had to get that out Blush Big Grin

I agree...height of 'bad taste'.....that is the trouble with 'celebrity/fame'...you cease to be a 'person' and become a commodity (a money making one for the hangers on and media)

Have only read your post so far and agree with you. I've read some things here today that made me feel sick and I left the Forum. I went to another one I belong to that also were discussing the recent deaths and the posts were more adult and sensitive. Others there also said their tears were a release also for loved ones they've lost which I understood. Anyway good post.

I think it's also worth bearing in mind that some people find it offensive when they see people professing grief for people who they have never met, like Michael Jackson, the Princess of Wales etc. I'm not for a minute having a go at anyone who finds that something like this sets off a grieving process for someone they have lost themselves, and realise that can happen. But I don't think that is the case with the majority of the people who post in threads like the ones we've seen today.

When I die, I want my funeral to be funny and unconventional. I want people to wear bright colours, laugh, and joke about all the silly things I've done in my life, take the piss out of me, and I want to force them to listen to the sort of music they've always groaned about. The last thing I woudl ever want is for it to be a sombre affair with weeping and wailing.

I feel much the same about threads on death. If someone posted that they had lost a family member, friend etc, I would of course be respectful, and offer my condolences, because that is personal. But the death of a celebrity is very different, and I can see no reason for people not to express their feelings, or why anyone should be expected to display fake grief or respect when they don't feel that way.

I concur GB. I would never go into a thread to upset anyone but the death of a celebrity is simply not the same thing as personal loss. There have been many many threads on MJ here today, perhaps OP's should have stipulated the intention of the threads more clearly if they wanted a specific condolence or sympathy thread.

I saw a pic of him a couple of weeks ago and he looked really good I mean as good as his bad days.... I agree with you, I hope he went away peacefully...
